Hello,

here is one example of what I've done - apart from my french army - lately.

As I noticed there were far to many pirate ships threatening my friend Rotrock I had to come up with the conversion of one of these ships into a regular british frigate of the 19th century ;)

Wow! I posted on your welcome thread, wondering what you've been working on, before seeing this.

EsDoc - this ship is gorgeous! Fantastic! Other than repainting it, as if that were not enough, and the Cerberus on the bow, did you make other changes to it?

Maximus, I believe the figure is Cerberus - In Greek mythology, the three-headed watchdog who guards the entrance to the lower world, the Hades.

Hi Captain ;)

Yep, you're completely correct with the meaning of Cerberus and the three headed dog (actually I used two wolves-heads and one dog-head, because I couldn't find a playmo-dog with his mouth open).

I made some other changes too: The stern-laterns and the guns for example. And the windows at the ships stern received windowpanes too.

The only thing the ships still lacking is a decent crew ;)

I don't think that you'll have any trouble finding a "decent crew" for such a beautiful ship ... Every Playmobil sailor in the world would love to "sign up" to become a crew member on your magnificent HMS Cerberus! ... :)

Brilliant !!! ...

All the best,
Richard

Thanks for the overhead view EsDoc. It is beautiful!

I may be missing something obvious, but how are the cannons customized? Did you lenghten them?

EsDoc `s gone to sea! That`s a surprise :o
It´s a beautiful job Mattias.  Very impressive paintwork, lanterns and flogpole (I think there´s another word, but I don`t know it). The figurehead is the crowning glory!

The buzz is,Capitan Enrique, that EsDoc has cast his own cannon barrels.!

'flagpole' sounds fine with me ;)

You're right David: I do cast my own cannon barrels, but not this time. The barrels used aboard the HMS Cerberus are original playmo parts ETN 30666110.
They fit perfectly into the carriage of the navy-gun. I wanted to use as much playmo parts in this conversion as possible ;)

Although I have to admit I have no idea whether or not the laterns are genuine playmo parts.

I have just seen this post and which splendid ship, The fitting of the colors is formidable, could you say to me if there is a bond to which you refer, or he left straight of your imagination. Congratulation

Hi Paul,

basically I referred to the usual pattern of colours british ships were painted in during the 19th century (HMS Victory is a good example). There are many pictures that can be used as a model. I attached this illustration of the HMS Caesar to show you the common colour sheme :)

Very nice custom... I like it when people rebuild existing ships  :!:  And I especially like the figurehead...

I also have the 3940 ship, but I don't like the colors at all. So I'm also thinking on repainting it. Just hadn't had the inspiration yet... I have to look for pictures on the internet  :D
