I remember asking you all about options for long poles (even as far back as when I was making merry men with wooden staff) but even with new safari themes...the perfect PM part is still elusive...looks like your old teepee poles are still the best option...

i remember having a few small PVC Japanese flower ports hanging from 3 plastic 'stirrups' unfortunately I cant find them anymore (mine was white anyway and spent too much time in the sun and probably thrown away) I've got red/brown ones but the 'stirrups' are casted like twisted strings/cords. so my search goes on....

There is variant of the old tepee pole that comes with set 4431 (shown in the rear/right of the pictures). It is more dark and slightly less flexible. Not that this is really visible but it makes a difference. :D
I hope they are still available in the DS.

Richard, I wonder if you are referring to their 'flexing' pikes (like those flexible double-edged Chinese swords which can whip/curl when parried  :D )

btw Micheal(H-M), I like the drummer best....I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make I must not make them  ;D

..and they also remind me very much of David ( 'De Warren' or 'Hamer' ? )'s beautiful (still is very outstanding till today, IMHO) customs  :)

But, IMHO ... David Hamer's customs are not as good as your recent customs, Cheng! ...

I took Richard's statement as a suggestion to build an unit of opponents. But I am not sure yet to go where even Geobra does not go normally.  ;D

As said already it is now with the newer parts possible to build such figures. (@ geobra: it would still be more easy if we had a special with knee breeches in a decent colour with white socks and the brown!!! belt with knobs for cartridges from 4551) But they still can not be compared with DH's ingenious TYW customs.

@all: Thank you for your interest.

They are available. :-)

Stored with care they should not become too sloppy too soon.

I suggest them also as macedonian sarissas.

hey Micheal !
your latest photos says it all  ;)
an awesome sight for any PM calvary to be riding into  :o

and now completes your beautiful custom  :)
I have promised not to make these no matter how heart tugging they now appear  ;D

this is one custom where numbers matter  :P

luckily for me...the Ashigarus did not have such thick formations so I can get away with having lesser Yaris (which are also about 20 feet long...Micheal, can you estimate the scaled-down length of your western pikes?) fighting alongside other ahigarus carrying a mixure of weapons

one alone always gives the impression of being lost

One pole has a length of quite exactly 2.5 klickies so it is 4,25m (assuming 5'6" or 1.70 as average height of the century).  The length of the poles varies a bit to appear more natural when put into its normal use as a native tent substructure.
