The comment that follows isn't really applicable, because I confused the word Assyrians for Hittites.
But maybe you'll find it interesting:
Assyrians [Hittites] were noted for having long hair (the Egyptians made fun of this in propaganda) and fighting with spears and javelins from chariots (unlike the Egyptians, who used chariots for archer platforms).
Assyrian [Hittite] chariots were heavier and slower than Egyptian chariots. The wheels were placed directly under the center of the chariot carriage (to take weight off the horses). The Egyptian chariots, which PM surprisingly did a good job of re-creating, had their wheels placed at the back of the chariot carriage. At high speeds, the rearward center of balance made the chariot less prone to flying forward on top of the horses after hitting big bumps, a problem with the chariot being much lighter for speed.
