US set 5816 - Policeman carrying Colt Peacemaker
« on: August 22, 2007, 05:31:35 PM »
It was a good gun in its day, but shouldn't the modern US law enforcement officer carry something a little less anachronistic?

Isn't it time Playmobil designed a modern revolver? They have automatic pistols for other Police figures.

Hello, Marty ...

Thanks for bringing these new sets to our attention. I had not seen them. I also have not seen a real "blister pack" from Playmobil in a long, long time.

The Police set that you mentioned (don't know why they're still using a revolver rather than an automatic) ...

I have two of these sets, the Romans 5817 and the Pirates 5814.

Of the pirates, I'm not sure I like the red guy's red eyes, and may try to change the head out. The other pirate figure is very nice all round and will make an excellent addition to my crew. Both pirates have arms from "Roman" moulds.

The Gladiator in the Roman set has his left arm actually moulded as the armour out of silver plastic - is this a first in Playmobil?

I'd have preferred two gladiators in the pack rather than yet another Roman officer - but I had to have that gladiator. Maybe the Roman's angry expression is supposed to indicate he's in the Arean fighting the Gladiator.

If you would like to trade heads, tell me which one you want for Mr. Redeyes.

The moulded arm was first used with the Knight Theme, when Playmobil changed the Castle from Steck System to System-X.

I have both the Roman and Pirate blister pack and i like the looks of both of them. But the helmet for the Gladiator and also the blue Pirates hat fit very loosely and when trying to turn their heads by the means of the hat, only the hat turns and not the head. Which upsets me a little with the quality control. :-\

Hello Gaius! Yes they r only available outside of germany - sadly enough :(
The Fun Park in Germany was selling these exclusive sets - and they were being bought like they were going out of style! I don't think any are left though :( unfortunately we both live too far from the fun park to just race down there for a few of these sets...
