my Afrika Korps in Tunisia

they were also called the 'desert rats'.....(inspired by our Ralf!) 
their uniform clothes ranged from desert sand color to green/grey 
(too bad i dont have the other type of peak caps  )

(by the way, the back-strap of the soldier in the first picture should be a 'Y' type...not this 'X' type which is more correct for the opposing british 8th army)



and a little trivial pursuit.....
can anyone tell me what original(and uncut) 3 PM parts were used to make the mortar?

before asking this question :-)

..anyway to enable non-members to se them,

Wow! Uncut??? It's amazing what new accessories you can make out of existing parts! 8)

Well, I was log in when I post this question!  ;D Because you can only post here if you are log in, or is that not true?

But by the way, great scene and also a great construction of a mortar.

I have one question, is this know the german "Afrika Korps" or are they members of the british 8th Army?
If they are germans, they called not Desert Rats (these is the nick name of the british troops). The germans have called "Wüstenfüchse" - Wüste/Wueste(n) = Desert and Füchse/Fuechse = fox.

I think I may have confused cheng when I tried to explain this in another topic. :(

His first lot of images are directly linked to playmoboard's server and won't show up unless you have recently logged in at playmoboard.

Like you, bennain, I couldn't see them at first either. They are appearing for me now, because I logged into playmoboard this morning and even after logging out again my PC must still be carrying some cookies from there which help me to see the images. No wonder we're all getting confused! :P

Cheng's second lot of images are attached to GW-PC's server, so everyone who visits THIS forum will be able to see them, even if they are NOT logged in here.  I hope this makes sense to everyone! ;)

sorry, i was making German Afrika Korps(i spoke of their peak caps & distinctive 'Y' belts) (so youre right, 'desert rats' was the nick name for the British 8th Army fighting them)....

actually the Desert Fox reffered to Rommel alone...thats another long long story  ;D i'll have to custom him using a fat figure and knee-high boots  ;D

and Krystal,
youre the IT genuis here(how young r u?  ;D )
i linked it to playmoboard as i didnt know how to attach pictures until you taught me...thanks a whole lot  :D

but i remember my plastic scale model of him....feet astride and one hand behind his back like napoleon's famous pose....maybe he was made larger than live  :D

ANY ONE LIKE TO GUESS WHERE THE BARREL CAME FROM? LAST CHANCE! goldenknight of playmoboard has given everyone there a very good clue.....they are found INSIDE.....TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT YOUR PM STUFF...YOU HAVE THEM!!  ;D

you dont have any big berthas? its only partially hidden  ;D

i've seen some customs of contemporary soldiers and i've always wanted to tell them that they dont have to look elsewhere for their mortars and missile launchers...well, i hope the see this  :)

Great stuff.

I love the camel.  One of my favourite "themes" is soldiers on camels.
Lots of Armies had camel mounted regiments - even the Germans (in SW Africa) and the Indian Army's present day camel mounted "Border Security Force" look magnificent in their full dress uniforms.

maybe you start customizing (and sharing) some soldiers on camels. Or you may post some pictures of "originals", so that we can start a little customizing contest on that theme.
