they look great cooster!  :D
I left my love a letter in the hollar of a tree.
I told her she would find me in the U.S. Cavalry.
High, yo, down they go, there's no such word as can't.
We'll ride clean down to hell and back for Ulysses Simpson Grant.

Hello, Cooster67 ...

Your barracks photos are wonderful! ...   ...   ...

I like the way that you have used the jungle native Klickys and the overalls for the work crew! (The Zouave suggests that these soldiers are still fighting in the American Civil War and have not yet been sent west to fight Indians.)

Also, you are quite correct to show white officers for the black regiments.

Everyone probably knows that the black cavalry and infantry regiments that went west were called "Buffalo Soldiers." But, does everyone know the real reason why they got this name?

They were named "Buffalo Soldiers" by the Native Americans (American Indians). And, there are two stories. One story said that it was because they were as brave and fierce as the buffalo. The other story said that their matted curly hair reminded the Indians of the hair of the buffalo.

Maybe both stories are true ... ;)

All the best,
Richard
