Well, it's quite difficult for me to explaining the story of Mexican second empire. It was an empire build in 1862 for the brother of emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, great Duke Maximilian. and it was an idea of the french emperor Napoléon III to build an empire in Mexico for boken U.S.A influence on America.... :twisted:
The 30 april 1863, a french division of the mythic "légion étrangère" was attacked in the north of Puebla by a mexican division.
There were 64 frenchs and 2000 mexicans. They were figthing during nine hours and they were only 3 french survivors. It's our (for french) Fort Alamo but we haven't any movie on this theme :lol: .

North americans become involved in the conflict indierctly after 1865 fir defense of Monroe doctrin.

After the Civil War was won Gen Sheridan was ordered to the border with 30,000 men and was spoling to go over and fight the French but the French pulled out as the result of diplomatic pressure (and the need to bring troops home to face Prissia).

Shouldn't one of theose Klickies have a hand missing (as Captain Danjou).

Where my office is in England is opposite Farnborough Abbey where Napoleon III is buried.
