On my search for 18th century material (for Three Inch Glory II) I came across an old barrel that I wanted to put on this carriage since ages but failed to do on several occasions. I am surely not the first one to do this but i just wanted to enlighten you that it is possible to achieve this without altering the barrel using just brute force with pincers to widen the top of carriage temporarily.

I am quite glad about that piece.

I still need some practising to avoid scratches  . But it still seems worth the effort for me and the carriages are DS replacable.

Hi h_m,

Have you tried gluing a bit of felt onto the tips of your pincers/pliers? If you use a fairly thin layer of felt, you should still be able to use the pliers as normally, but with much less chance of scratching the plastic.

Just a thought...

I have tried this as well, but when I did it I used heat to make the plastic more pliable.
It doesn't leave any scratches.

My EAGLE (3286/394Ø) has Ø2 (the #1 and 2 guns) and my Cutter DISPATCH (4444 custom) has one (bow).
You do have to work the barrel into the carraige slowly, though.

I dont have such a gun to try it out but I do have a few suggestions in such cases;
1) since you say the carriage is easily replaceable...although its quite an ardous task (not for me really), I'll rather cut/file/drill down the insides of the carriage
2) or cut/file down, btw I just bought an Ozito set (cheap australian hobbyist rotary tool) the pins & collar of the gun
3) something I thought off long ago but still dont have to do....file off the teeth of my pliers...then add the felt like AndrewL suggested

oh..almost forgot....I like your customs! not just the guns

i've always been looking out for a genuine PM part to insert into shakos...what part number is this holly? did you have to trim it? (not your style )
