In the Royal Navy in the 18th and 19th centuries cooks were usually appointed from sailors who had lost and arm or a leg.  They could not go aloft but they were still useful (and Navy food was so bad they could not make it any worse).

So long as your guy has an arm or leg shot away - he's authentic!

another beautiful one from Andy!

hey Andy, i assume you use milliput for his short sleeve(not many klikies with short sleeves available....i'll need them for Romans later :) ) and you had to drill to fit in his shorter peg leg...ouch! :)

Well done, Andy!

Your "cookie" is marvelous ...

How many men do you currently have in your crew? The next time you're in port, and have everyone fall-in for inspection, could you take some fotos so that we can see them all together? ... :)

Your "inspirational" illustrations are really enjoyable. Thanks for sharing, Andy!

Thank you for your comments :)

@ cheng

there's no miliput in the figure... i cut the shoe off, took the "wooden leg" from an old klicky (3385), shortened it and put the two parts with adhesive together.

@ Richard

i've 16 members in my crew at the moment... the last figure is in work this time, i think i need some more weeks...

now there are:

1 captain

1 attendant

3 seamen

1 cook

and the Seasoldiers:

1 offiocer

1 first sergeant

1 sergeant

1 corporal

1 lance corporal and 5 privates....

when the last figure is ready to show, i'll take a picture of the complete crew.

@ all

sorry for my bad english

Hi andy,

why not your best figure? Don't you sound so pessimistic.

We like him :)
