New Boxer Slasher Trivial Pursuit
« on: March 30, 2010, 08:22:11 AM »
what set/theme is this plamo part from? (I dont know if there's more than 1 set using this slashing weapon.....and whether its historically correct....I've only seen them on cinema screens....sometimes used in pairs and sometimes twirled around attached by chains...the later should be just pure fantasy)

aaah! BINGO Macgayver!
do you own or have seen this set up close before? (now I remember where it came from....I was using it to hang my extra lances for so long until I forgot where they came from   :P )
it'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack if I were to search Heather's database  ;)

PS, Cheng, this is a great Boxer !

As for the weapons on chains...
A few of those weapons are based on real grain threshing equipment, but like you, I suspect the one in question is pure fantasy...

The main use of a chained weapon is that you can crack a person over the top of their shield.  It also gives men on horseback a bit more downward reach.

Otherwise it is a rather (self) dangerous weapon... as a teenager, I knocked myself out playing with a pair of nanchuku ('numb chucks' -- and I felt "numb" afterward)...

Yes I have hurt myself several times with chain weapons. :(
But with the proper skill they could be used effectively and the user could manage not to kill himself.
Like the Medieval flails of Europe,
Knights used them with-out killing themselves. :P

Perhaps the idea of these of a chain is not so far-fetched? ???
