yes, I've heard of those famous legends entitled 'water margin' when i was a kid...could be the same stuff...

we have many chinese sword-fighting series here (except we don't have this liang-shan-po)....
but we don't have any Samurai ones (our locals are more interested in Japanese love-stories I suppose  ) and nobody is selling Samurai DVDs too...no market here among the young.

my respect to Dread Bonet too....its hard to customise just from original parts....there will be many japanese and chinese customs possible once Geobra produces the more suitable hair pieces...

I'm restricting myself to only historical themes (and avoiding fantasy figures because there is no end/limit)

Hi Cheng, I like how you did the reverse-torso for the tunic effect.  Did you have source material for these guys?  I'm struggling to locate Ming source.

I've resorted to trips to the Art Museum to study clay statuettes...

The Saint Louis Art Museum is hosting a big Ming exhibit.  I should have bribed the guard to let me use my camera.  I saw a great tapestry of a hunting expedition and an army of (unfortunately crude) clay statues on the march.  Plus, some good scenes of women aristocrats at a party and the emperor and his retinue playing croquet...

Why is this so difficult to find off the web?  I thought the web was supposed to unify all knowledge?

I still can't find anything easily... just as in the old days of the 1990s I must resort to footwork to museums or to the library or rummage bargain book dealers...

the reverse-torsos are really just fixed on back-to-front but of course with some internal trimmings to allow them to slip on completely.

I didnt have any historically accurate reference materials....just what we see in movies, comics, paintings..... 

i hope you will be able to show us some shots with your hp cam

Tim, I didnt work from this picture but a combination of what I've collected in my mind from movies etc (I can't read mandarin, there are many reference materials in mandarin I'm sure)

I could scan some more Ming pictures I have from Osprey books, if you'd like.

As for Chinese source material, on my next trip to Beijing I intend to scour the bookshops for source.  I have a great book on Chinese village architecture (different villages among the minority groups).

But as for military... I haven't found a Chinese equivalent of Osprey...  in the US and UK, you can find tons of picture books explaining European castles, but this fashion hasn't caught on yet in China...

Chinese kids appear to be more interested in European castles than in Chinese castles...  (I've found many of the European castle picture books from the US translated for the Chinese market)

I've never been to Beijing either and not being able to read chinese, I cant even search chinese book stores here....but there are many movies for Ming & Qing periods but new shows tend to fantasize too much on clothes. 

errrr...no interest on Chinese village at the moment....I have given up 1/76 scale dioramas long before giving up on 1/35 scale. 

true....many chinese kids have eyes only for western history, fashion and fast food....its not about to change....so any plans to launch Chinese themes in China would be a marketing gamble for GB....especially now  so we best move on, on our own (instead of waiting for GB)
