a happy new year also to henry. Ctaphracts were my best units in Rome Total War and finally we have them in Playmobil too  ;D. The shield doesnt consist of original parts does it?

Difficult to made a satisfying cathaphrat in playmobil  :-\. You cannot made better with the few oriental elements. The idea of the robot head is excellent.

very nice custom there, a difficult piece of history to construct in terms of playmobil, i find ur version very satisfying!

I made a new cataphract. This time the body of the new barbarian was used. First I did not like this idea of geobra at all, but taken apart he provides us with lots of usefull parts :-D.

And I noticed that I owe an aswer to some members: The shield on the above pictures is of course non pm. I found it in some ebay or fleamarket lot, and so I must apologize for not being able to tell from which manufacturer it is.

Putting away the last cataphract and what was left when i made him my eyes fell on one of the older roman specials. He has even a armour that covers front AND back.  ;D

I just noticed that this part was used already for byzantine cataphracts:

Arms and legs were taken from one of the dragon knights. As we are told by Justinus (see liber XLI 3,4) that the persian nobles never dismounted from their horses in public, we do not have to worry about the awful colors of the boots of this knight as well as of the new barbarian.

Hey Micheal,
good to know these older Roman torsos have many uses now!  ;D

I dont know anything about persian cataphracts but I can see that your latest helmet very closely resembles early chinese soldiers (Ming and earlier but i'm but I'm not familiar with these earlier Chinese periods either)  :P
