Nassau customs

Hi my friends,

I just clicked through the pages and saw that my last post of a customization wwere my French Hussards in Mai 2006...a long time ago  So here is my latest project: a Nassau Corps Légère:

1 officer
1 flag barer
1 sous officer
17 soldiers

and as the weather is fine and I wanted to test a new enviroment I went out in the garden to take the pictures there. I just had the problem that it is very difficult to put the klickies in a way that they don't fall. I would be pleased if someone in here with a little bit of 'outside expierence' could gimme some hints.

Regarding your question about, "I just had the problem that it is very difficult to put the klickies in a way that they don't fall." ... You seem to have found the answer with your last photo ...

(You can also use a thin board buried in the grass. The "trick" is to have a flat surface. Of course you can always buy Playmobil's bases from Direct Service, but I think that a flat surface works best.)

thx to u all my friends, its wonderful to read that u love them (I love them too ) To burry a flat surface in the gras seems to be a good idea Richard but thats a little bit too complicate for me I thought of maybe attaching some nails to the legs with power strips or something like that 
@cheng: painting is a nice thing but I think paint brushing like u do is even better...the torso and the legs come from 4654 pirate: I just took away the original painting from the torso and painted the legs in green or black at the feet and I was very suprised that it looks so fine 
@Dan: Nassau also fought at Waterloo?!?! I thought they were only part of Napoleon's Rhinebund when he was still powerful?

how did you remove the original painting? is there an easy way? i once used a rubber to erase the painting on a pirate head. i imagine it as quite arduous to treat so many parts in this way and to keep their shining surface.

very inspiring to see that it is still possible to produce whole new units with actual parts and figures.

i dont even have one of those i call pinocchio-pirates(like wooden legs)
and you even irreversibly customed them?! (against my own rules)
i thought their torsos were from some very old klickies...
but your right...i their legs too look very compatible ...
take a close-up picture of any one of your nassau klicky without the tall 'corns' around if you can...show us your paining skills (those buttons and leg stripes...i cant do that 'free-hand')

and michael,
in my opinion, AUTOSOL would be the easiest(fast and leave an even 'shinier' surface...afterall, its used for final polishing of those moulds used for making those 1.5Lit transparent PET bottles for fizzy drinks...try it and you'll swear by it too

@cheng: u seem to look even closer to my customs than I do myself  and concerning my painting skills Im not always happy with what I produce but I painted 1:72 scale befor I went to 1:32 scale and finally to my good old klickies...In 1:72 scale u have nearly zero tolerance when painting so it becomes more easier the bigger the figure actually is  to my mind ur paint-brush works also look very well and I thought paintbrushing should allow u more accuracy than painintg 
Concerning the close-ups I didnt get for which detail u r looking especially (maybe my English is too bad) but Ill take some shots tomorrow.
@michal: Ill also take some shots of my 'take-away-the-original-paining' tools and post in a new thread and give some detailed information about how u do this cuz I think its a question that not only u have.

i started with HO:OO scale trains/civilians...then to 1:76 soldiers (romans, gauls etc, WWII almost all and even painted moustage(s) on my calvary as a teenager while my bro was roaming the streets and dating
...then i moved to 1:32...then 1:12 then gave up when we had our first baby
AND i thought Playmo would be the thing and NO MORE PAINTING...YAHOO!!!! but not after discovering customising from you guys 
so....i try not to paint if i can 

i wanted to see your nassau's trousers' stripes and their leggings and shoes 

p.s. i always envy your avatar and your lined-up romans !!! (why didnt you use more lighting?)

a lot of answers for cheng  :
here r two pictures of their leggins and shoes actually I painted the 'piniccio' legs black and a little bit of the shoes as well to have the effect of 'Gamaschen' dont know the English word lol, I hope these pictures make it abit clearer to u:





Its good to hear that u like my Romans, they r that dark cuz I didnt have more light thats the point. Im wondering if I should perhaps make my Nassaus my new signature...
