Big News: An Official Playmobil Collector's Club

Some of you may already be aware of this, but for those who aren't...

Our esteemed Richard has been campaigning, with the help and support of members of this and other fan forums, to get Geobra's management to engage better with the Playmobil collector/enthusiast community. The high point (so far) was a trip by Richard to Zirndorf, to meet in person with various members of Geobra's management, including Horst Brandstätter. The outcome of these meetings was Herr Brandstätter endorsing the idea of a Playmobil Collector's Club!

The details of the Club are still to be worked out, but the first step will be the establishment of a 'Pilot Group'. This group will take part in a six-month 'test programme' (starting 15th September this year) and help develop the Club, before it becomes generally available. The 'Pilot Group' will be relatively small (50-75 people). Richard and other leading members of the collector/enthusiast community are currently working out requirements for and expectations of members of the 'Pilot Group'.

I think this is all absolutely fantastic news, and a tremendous opportunity. I think the Collector's Club will give us the chance to interact more directly with Geobra, to push for the kinds of products and services we would like to see, and, at the same time, enable us -- as collectors/enthusiasts -- to help Playmobil to be even more successful.

I must conclude by saying a massive 'THANK YOU!' to Richard for all his efforts on our behalf, as well as to everyone out there who has supported all the endeavours that have led us to the point we're at now.

A hint to those who might wish to follow: The voting effort can be made a bit more efficient using several different browsers (Mozilla + IE + Safari + Chrome..., all store their own cookies) in the same session until one is told that there have been to many votes out of the same network.

hi richard , i'm not sure to understand this idea : ok a fan club but when you've met the group : what do you ask them ? you think we could propose ideas to geobra to get pieces we could need for our collection ? can you please explain it in more details ? i just read your two link and i think i should understand more the interest of this project before beeing in the project .

Hi Jeremy,

At this point, the Collector's Club is simply in pilot form and will be until the middle of March.  After that time, hopefully Collectors will be able to join the club.  There may be a nominal fee involved in some way, but that has not been decided yet.  Also at that time, Collectors may possibly be able to propose set or piece ideas to Geobra, although there is no guarantee that Geobra will act upon these proposals.  I hope that answers some of your questions.

hi justino , many thanks to be so kind to take the time to answer me ! i think playmobil is a toy for kids , there're not so many people who collect playmo over the world ! even the parents are important because they make the choice for their childreens , i don't think playmobil have an interest to do historical and conform pieces like collectors wanted to get , i think this collaboration can give free ideas to the playmobil factory but i have a doubt to consider they could help collectors ... there's a man in france who have over 15000 playmobils and he never have a cheap price from their part ... that's just my opinion and i hope the future will say i'm wrong !!!  friendly jeremy
