Title: my US calvary (horse) blankets

I've always wondered what these blankets will look like on black/brown/light brown horses (those with good PC editing tools/skills wouldnt bother   ;D )  sorry for the poor lighting...again   :P:

They look perfect, cheng! Really nicely done. 8)
The first photo you posted was certainly clear enough to see the detail of your paintwork. :)

I found the second pic interesting also - but that was mainly because I was looking at that unusual building being reflected in the glass of your window and wondering what it might be.  ;D

thats just one of the buildings owned by Telecoms...there are not many tall buildings here where i live(i'm not living in the city/golden triangle)  :)

questions for US calvary enthusiasts;

Q1: are these calvary blankets only for certain ranks?

Q2: were they already being used in ACW or only later during the Indian wars?  ???

Hello, Cheng ...

Click  HERE  (http://www.ushist.com/wardrobe/regulations/army_regulations_1861.htm) for the US Army regulations of 1861.

It would appear that the officers had blue saddle cloths with yellow trim and the other ranks had bue saddle blankets with no trim.

I have attached a picture of a Cavalry Officer by Frederic Remington which is very accurate. Even though this is a cavalry officer during the time of the Indian Wars, the uniforms and horse equipment were pretty much the same. The dates of the ACW and the Indian Wars actually overlapped each other for a few years.

nice spraying work though cheng...to my mind it has to be historically correct but only to a certain grade, so dont be too angry about urself  :)

Hi Cheng I think they look great and am sure you will have at least 3 officers in your army. I am slowly collecting parts to model (or should I say click together) ACW figures. I dont intend to paint any at this time but never say never. So was most pleased to see Richards attachment. I will have to print it off for future reference. Regards Craig
