Title: You can never have too many places to discuss Playmobil!
Post by: Sylvia on May 09, 2005, 05:10:16 PM
(That's my belief anyway )

Hi everyone!

It's a while since I've written an introduction, so I'm not sure what to write. :? (As Richard can confirm, that's not usually a problem I suffer from   )

My passion for Playmobil began about 5 years ago when I started to buy it for my children. It didn't take long for me to get hooked, and I gradually began buying sets for myself also.  I now have quite a sizeable collection of victorian (all of the original releases), knights, magic, pirates, western and circus. Plus quite a few modern boxes have managed to creep in, despite constantly telling myself that I would never deviate into that area.

These days my interest lies more in customising Playmo than collecting it (though I still have a noticeable weakness for keychains), so I haven't made any major purchases for a while. It's safer for the bank balance and it takes up less storage space in the house.

I don't specialise in anything with a military theme - I leave that side of things to my webpartner "de Warrens" at JustForKl!cks (http://www.justforklicks.com/j4k/main.html) :) - but I have made some basic WW2 klickies for use in a photo-story at gardenwargaming.com. I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely make some more one day.

I'm a member of a number of other Playmobil message boards and forums, so when I discovered one that would be generously populated with handsome soldiers, I decided that sounded like great fun and joined up immediately.

My usual avatar is quite 'flamboyant', so I've broken with tradition and chosen a completely different outfit from my wardrobe this time - one that is more suitable for the "wargaming" theme.

Hello Krystal!

Thanks for the intro, I learnt  quite a lot about your collecting habits from it!  :D  Only been collecting five years ?? I thought it would have been many, many more.

Your atavar is beautiful. I remember it from that wonderful story of yours at Garden Wargaming.  Is that your husband in the background of the pic?

 Great to have you around!

David

PS Thanks for the help with my avatar

That's because I didn't discover Playmobil until I came to live in the UK. I think it was available in Australia but not to the same extent as it is here. I never had any to play with when I was growing up, plus my children were too young for it when we left there in '93, so I wouldn't have been looking at those types of toys in the shops. :? I bought a couple of small sets for my boys in the mid 90's, but my first major purchase - the one which started the collecting spree - was the Victorian Dollhouse in 2000.  8)

PS. My husband does not look anything like Winston Churchill, you cheeky monkey!

Thank you very much for "joining up," my dear ... ;)

And, what a grand entrance you have made in your spiffy WAAF uniform. You look absolutely "drop dead" gorgeous! (I haven't the foggiest how to translate that into Spanish. Maybe Capitan Enrique can help me out.) ... :)

Husband indeed Mr. de Warrens! ...
(I have a feeling that he might not take kindly to that remark.) ... ;)

Knowing that you're here, Krystal ... makes it seem like a "real" forum now. Thanks.

All the best,
Richard

Sorry, Richard. I've only just read your post.  :| I'm supposed to get e-mail notification for subscribed threads, but my ISP doesn't seem to be allowing the messages through.
I see that Capitan Enrique has gallantly come to your aid since you posted, so the problem is now being taken care of.
