Thank you for sharing your afternoon project!

That's a beautiful fort! It could almost be any one of the forts built in the northeastern part of America.

This is a painting of the "Military Road" by Gary Zaboly. It shows many of the forts during the French and Indian War (Seven Years war) and the American War for Independence. Click on the painting to go to the website.

good observation, the fort is for the war in Canada (Québec) : English versus french

How about ... "grass mat" = Le plancher miniature de l'herbe sur la table?

Does that make sense?

Or ...  Le plancher miniature de l'herbe sur la table sous le fort? ... :lol:

The "grass mat" is the green cover that you used to cover your floor.
(Ooops sorry ... Your fort is on the floor not on the table)

No wonder you didn't understand my excellent French ... ;)

How about ... "Le tissu ou le tapis vert sur le plancher." ... :lol:

I thought that it was una fombra verde ... But, dictionary.com says ... Una manta verde, un paño verde o una estera verde. So, I don't know either.

So .. I guess that a "grass mat" is a "grass mat" ... :lol:

I would translate «grass matt» by «tapis floqué» in French, even though it is generally made of paper and not tissue or cloth. It is used for model train scenery.
Great fort, and great use of System X parts. How many basic sets did you use ?
The only thing I would add is a kind of stables for drought horses, on the right part of the fort, with an attached corral. Blacksmith and «cantina» could also add to the atmosphere…
Mine is made up entirely of the old fort system parts, more versatile (but more fragile…).
