Hi cheng,
very nice customs. I like th e combination from old light-blue klickylegs and the body of the regular csa soldier. That looks very pretty.
Also you made a very good custon of the "Dicke Berta", it looks like a mortar.
Well done
Bennain

i just 'updated' my CS artillerymen...thanks for all your help Bennain!

Wow, the hat and the trouserstrip looks very accurate. Can you explain me your technics? And by the way, which colour do you use? I tried it also to create some artillery and cavalry caps. I use at the moment Revell Colors, but the result isn't good. The color doesn't cover and hold on the caps.

Hello Bennain,
the trouserstrips are only PVC stikcers :) but they do last a long time...my oldest one is probably 3 years and they still look good. (i tried spraying...too much work...like i once did for sargent stripes...masking is painfully slow especially when i have so 9 US & 13 CS artillerymen.
dont worry..you can still wipe off your Revell...
there are 2 reasons for my poor painting by hand.....
1) inconsistency/non-uniform color...i solve that by masking and spraying with tamiya sprays...there are not many colors to pick from(go to their website)
2) painting yellow or white or red over dark colors....i needed about 8 coats of spray...if you can enlarge my artilleryman picture..you'll see that the red paint was quite thick :)
what i would have done perhaps was to spray an undercoat of white, then spray the red which should stand out brigter (but i didnt because my sprayed on red would have made the cap look like the helmet of a motorbike racer :D ....i did spray some tamiya bikes and riders when i was collecting them long ago :D )
(sorry if this sounds like a customising thread)

all the white, blue & red were masked and sprayed on...its ok when i'm making just one :)

 You work with masks! Wow, thats an interesting. I've had not enough experience with that. My idea is to make labels for the figures.
Best regards
Bennain

very nice work cheng!!!
also very interesting info from both of u here!
i havent started customizing yet, partly cause i dont have the time and partly cause im scared to do make a mistake and ruin my klickys
but i am thankful for any bit of information as to what method is the best to customize (paint, spray, masks).
i think i would prefer paint and masks (masks being a very very interesting idea!) pls keep us informed about ur progress! oh and bennain, id love to see those labels! that also sounds liek a really cool idea!
