what a very beuatiful army. Please let us see more from then and also the confederates. :D
I think it is a nice idea to paint the rifles, because that will give them more realism. The next step to make your troops more historical correct, is to change the insignia and shoulder straps. They ar always in the troops color.
That means:
infantry - light blue rank insignia
artillery - red rank insignia
cavalry - yellow rank insignia, so that you must not change.

thanks bennain for the links!!!! i wish i have seen this before...anyway its not too late :) (but i cant find the shoulder straps?)
for that i shall show you my confederates even tho they are not ready(waiting for caps and cuffs and collars)
the black hat is just a normal farm hat, in black...i just added a red cord...like i did for the infantry officer

At the bottom of the page you will find the word "Uniformen". This is the way to go! Then you see "Die Uniform (Hintergrundinformation)". Ther you can find some examples.

Yes, Funky was my ACW Guru...i learnt a lot from him...now you and simmi have continued to fan my fire :) and with these links you've given us, i will further correct my ACW armies...danke danke!
i hope our other ACW playmo fans will also join us...it doesnt matter if they have only a small army or only a few men...its a start...and even if the colors are not so correct for want of parts, its really ok...i am really very happy to see works from you, simmi, cooster etc recently...keep going!! more more mehr!!

having checked those pictures i could find/understand from Bennain's links...
i couldnt confirm whether my union artillery caps(i couldnt find any) were correct.....in fact they look more like CS artillery caps!?!?
i am planning to pass these red/blue caps to my CS artillery men and maybe just make plain blue caps for these union artilllerymen with suspenders :)

i am quite certain after checking all these sites that i should pass my union artillerymen's caps to my rebels...
i will spray some CS infantry caps with lighter blue tops(this time using union caps since i need the dark blue band for the bottom half of the CS cap)

Would something like this work? I just did a quick design, based off the 1861 model. Something like this could be copied and printed out on adhesive papers to make stickers to go on the Klickys' heads. Of course, colors and such can be changed around.
