It has been a while :-[ ::) however I am back and the first thing I noticed...
is there really no thread about the 2012 novelties yet? Or have I simply missed it?
Well in any case here are some interesting links, in case they were posted somewhere else, please feel free to delete them, otherwise enjoy!

Too good to be true. I will actually belive it only when it is available. I hope there will be enough success so that further and new sets will be released during very next time. But very good for a start already. And at least the Western theme is back.   :o

It's great that the western theme is back, there is a lot of cool stuff there. :)

But the thing that has got me really fired up is this thread at PlaymoFriends:
Click Here! (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=9879.msg195150#msg195150)

Playmobil has produced a DWARF figure! ;D ;D ;D
I cannot wait for that. ;)

I too am thrilled to see the Western theme revived, although I was really hoping for a Southwestern architectural emphasis with adobe buildings.  This would be useful for the Roman, Egyptian, and Pirate themes too.  The log fort idea is getting a bit tiresome and has been done better before.

Thanks to Ace@PF. I took the liberty to remove the shadows of Mordor from Gimli a bit.  ;D

Yeah, I will definitely make a band of orcs out of these guys...
Enough to fight my dwarves! :D

They have Gondor too.
Title: Re: Playmobil Novelties 2012
Post by: WarriorOfToys on February 17, 2012, 05:01:53 AM
Yeah I have picked up on that already. ;D
I have a Gondor custom somewhere...

I would definitely switch out the arms for the style in your picture there, but again, in silver.
I think I already looked at the helm style in the picture too and decided to go with the barbuta helm,
But if the dwarves are using the barbuta style helm
I think I would  switch Gondor's helmsto the one in your photo.

I would love to see your Gondorians.
I am working on Rohan too.

A gondorian. In fact he is customized while our discourse was more about what ready made middle earth people geobra is or will be offering.  ::)

Nevertheless:  ;D
I still think that this helmet is the most appropriate.

- legs, torso, belt and sword: the orc from fi?ures 2
- arm armour, facial hair, and shield: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5886 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5886)
- lance: from http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5911 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5911)

- helmet: e.g. from http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=7772 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=7772)

- Arms, head, and hair: from some old knight

Very nice! :)
Your figure is quite close to the real Gondorian infantry, especially the legs.

I think the new series 2 figs might be great for Orcs and Men. ;D
But I think the Roman tower shields, or the Egyptian shields might be a better fit.
And your original helmet idea seems closer...

...
I am working on Rohan too.

Also, I stumbled across this (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-63-9192) while looking at some shield designs...
Talk about ready made middle earth pieces.

The one here has such a nice white tree design. ;)

And your original helmet idea seems closer...
As to the shape I think it is alright although being a bit flattened. The other with horse hair I would take for rohan. I'll bring along a picture of that combination later. :)

That is true, it does look nice. :)
I would try to remove the eye though.

I cannot wait to see your other figures!

Title: Re: Playmobil Novelties 2012

maybe this one too but I think it looks too elvish or too fantasy
Title: Re: Playmobil Novelties 2012
Post by: henry_martini on March 07, 2012, 08:45:02 PM
this might be put on the upcoming dwarf. I find it misshaped but for a dwarf it might work, esp if we want to avoid using the same helmet type on different middle earth people.
Title: Re: Playmobil Novelties 2012
Post by: WarriorOfToys on March 07, 2012, 11:42:25 PM
The dragon helm does look very elvish.
I think if they have it in gold (or black) that would be great for an elvish faction. 8)

Also, I like your idea for the dwarven helm.
It seems to fit nicely with that theme.

As for giving all factions of middle earth different helms,
I don't think that is strictly necessary.
There seems to be a bit of mixing with arms and armor in the stories and the movies.
Plus Rohan uses the ocular helms the most.

Thank you very much.  :)

I am personally with the orcs.  They are not as evil as it seems. ;) Read the true story of the last ringbearer here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ringbearer). There (http://www.scribd.com/doc/49566845/The-Last-Ring-bearer) is an english translation.

Something useful for the red hair of the blister pyrate. I do not claim that this is my idea or that not someone somewhere had it long before me. :-\

A rohir. I had more the horse tail in mind than the face guard but both features can be combined with only a little drilling. (Again no claim for originality.)

They are all very nice! :)
I had forgotten about the scale armor,
it looks excellent on your rider of Rohan.

That helm works for me. ;D
What Pirate hair was used for your dwarf?
Does it fit with chain-mail?? :o

Here is a version of a Rider of Rohan.
The new cavalry harness from 4868 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4868) set is amazing, the detail is beautiful.

I cut the tail and put it underneath the chainmail. So it does fit but it would not follow head movements. I am considering glueing. Maybe ... ::)

That hair is from http://playmodb.org/setpics/4127.jpg (http://playmodb.org/setpics/4127.jpg). I have quite a lot because there's always a red  haired pyrate in tow of the really useful redcoat.

- Theoden? I really like him and the wooden shield.  :o
- I was looking for such a harness just this morning.  :P

Errrm ... back on topic:

- There are serious rumors in KW that the 'new' 5580 DS-hussards will have new horses, legs and bodies.  My guess: https://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?topic=678.msg14319#msg14319 (https://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?topic=678.msg14319#msg14319)  ;D

- The museum will probably be without small parts, just the steck.

No, Theoden has golden armor, much closer to Plate.
The shield I got from Arnaud. :)

The Hussars would be really great to have. :)

Agreed. I meant that it would be better if possible not to use the same helmet very often.  :)

I see. He seemed to me the only one of them to be clad in red. After all 'It lies in the images that are conjured up in children's minds.' to cite HOB.  :D

Actually the armour of the already mentioned 4810 rondorian (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4810http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4810) would do the job here.
