I found a survey on the german Playmobil site.
http://download.playmobil.com/figuresumfrage/index.php (http://download.playmobil.com/figuresumfrage/index.php)
On the bottom there is a box where one actually can suggest new fi?ures. ;D ;D ;D
For the first time I entered a highlander, a musquetier with brown apostle bandolier, a terracottasoldier, a french imperial cuirassier and an 18th century grenadier.
Any more ideas to complete a dozen?

A jouster! :o
With a small shied that is attached to the chest instead of held in the hand. :)
That would be fun to see.
I'll get to work on thinking up more... ;) ;D

It would finally make sense to swap parts between the fi?gures.

I voted, but since I don’t speak or read German I think I might have sold a kidney- Or my first born, not sure which.
-
If it's not too late, I'd suggest a Greek Hoplite.

If it's not too late, I'd suggest a Greek Hoplite.
I guess they just make a long term survey of actual demands without timelines.
So I added:
- your hoplite
- Marie Curie
- Rani of Jhansi
- a female asian rice farmer with conical hat
- Jake and Rose from Titanic
- a norman knight 1066 style
- a 19th century explorer/archaeologist with topee and putees preferably in khaki
- a 20ies pilot with pilot hat
- a polish winged hussar
- a sailor
It probably does not hurt to mention the highlander there from time to time. :D

I still do not know for what it is worth but playmobil once again has a 'poll' for fi?ures suggestions on their website:
http://download.playmobil.com/figuresumfrage/ (http://download.playmobil.com/figuresumfrage/)
In the upper part (Umfrage: Wer ist dein persönlicher Star der PLAYMOBIL-Figures?*
Mach mit und gewinne 1 megastarkes Paket mitne jeweils 24 Überraschungstüten für Jungen oder Mädchen!) one can choose his favourite fi?ure so far.
Alter*, Geschlecht* (age, gender, obligatory)
This is a raffle availale only to people living in germany, so you can leave it out:
Ja, ich möchte am Gewinnspiel teilnehmen
(Einsendeschluss 22.05.2012, Teilnahmebedingungen hier).
Ist deine Wunschfigur noch nicht dabei?
Welche sollte es in Zukunft einmal von PLAYMOBIL geben?
Isn't your most desired among the fi?ures yet?
Which one/s shall be released by PLAYMOBIL in the future?
Put your suggestions here or there in the box below. :) ;D

Female version of Candy-seller in circus uniform (3Ø ØØ 4122) (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30+00+4122) from 423Ø Circus (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4230). Include an instrument as “Marching Band.”
-
The survey is closed again. At least a sign that they care about it somehow. :D
-
The result of the poll regarding the so far most appreciated fi?ure (thanks to Tandoran@KW):
http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Link-Page?id=GS_FIGURES_UMFRAGE (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Link-Page?id=GS_FIGURES_UMFRAGE)
This probably means still no cuirassiers but more fantasy knights and princesses in the future. ::)
Polish winged hussars maybe. :D
-
It’s a shame Convict didn’t make it, but not surprising. :(

Now there is a 'poll' on the german Playmobil FB page (http://www.facebook.com/PlaymobilDeutschland). FB account required. Again one can add suggestions.
The top most items so far:
- Martin Luther
- Sherlock Holmes

- Schotten (scot)
- Mittelalterlicher Stadtrat (wie 1978) (medieval town councillor)

-
Thanks for the update, henry_martini! :)
I'd like to reiterate my desire for:

Norman knight in 1066 style

Presently there are in the topmost ranks with votes ranging from 80 to 15
Martin Luther (~80 votes)

I am glad to see the revise ? of the Western theme, I have already bought several sets. My hopes are to see a redone of sets 3749 Longhorn Trail and 3801 Watering Hole. I would love to do a cattle drive, with or without rustlers. The two 'cow' sets are great for a farm, but would look kinda of silly to use them for a cattle drive, we need longhorns. Along with the covered wagon, a chuck wagon to feed the trail hands.
With the covered wagon sets, a few (3365) Western Families to cross the west.
Also, Confederate artillery set.
And the Mexicans bandits or just mounted Mexicans.

I'd like to see some updated versions of the Western sets as well with new longhorns. A chuck wagon would be great too! :)
