Hi Cheng,

Your customs and photos are -- as ever -- absolutely brilliant!

Is the Torii gate from the recent zoo theme, or did you build it yourself?

Anyway, fantastic figures and an excellent setting for them.

Cheers,

AndrewL

Those are very nice customs, Cheng! :)

I think Playmobil's new zoo parts will come in handy for many members.  Here's hoping that they're the initial pieces for an upcoming Chinese and/or Japanese theme!

Apart from that they are all brilliant customs, I still fancy most your selfmade faces.

Inventions, customs, I see little difference. ;)
I reallly like seeing your Japanese soldiers,
And hope that one day I will have a Samurai army like yours! ;D
Untill then I will just admire your awsome customs! :)

A question,
Are you more into individualising all your people,
Or do you like clone armies too? ???

I generally lean twords clone armies. :P

I'm like you, WOT....
actually I prefer a cloned army too(as for all my ACW, knights, napoleonics, Romans, zulus, egyptians etc),
however sometimes its not possible (like for my East Indians, Red Indians, Vikings etc)

My East Asians are clones too but only for ashigarus, boxers, Qing, Terra cotta soldiers....but cant do that with samurais or japanese villagers

And sometimes its because its too difficult to clone, say, top knots...so they are just a little different(like we put different heads/hair on our clone armies) btw, I do have materials for more Ashigaru but too lazy to 'manufacture' more (my shelves are full too :P)

I may have discovered a way of making clone Samurai... ;D
I'll tell you how it works, (and show) when I start customising them.

I like a little variety, but not much.
I love seing them all in uniform,
And if nothing else their weapons MUST match if they are in the same group.

With my Samurai book (which I am using to base off my customs)
I am able to make all sorts of Japanese warriors... it has lots of pictures!

AHHH, I cant wait to start! :-\ ;D

When it comes to armies, the only part that isn’t cloned is rank insignias and heads (head itself, hair, and facial hair). Otherwise it’s just costumes. “Uniform” means literally “one form,” so if they’re not all the same (identical) then they’re not uniforms.

But the Samurai never had a "uniform" and nor did the Medieval Knights,
yet we still "clone" them mostly.
That is what I was talking about. :)

and Andy, like WoT, i know its not right to have cloned zulu or egyptian armies too.....we just like them dressed exactly the same (ala wargaming) but mine do hold different weapons altho there's not enough different heads/suitable hair styles...so they are even more cloned than my ACW northerners.  ;)

but would you ever clone red indians or vikings, WoT? :D

Hmmm, probably not. :P
But that is because they "cant" be cloned.
Because they had no uniformed army.

I might arm them all the same, though, or mostly the same. ;D
Like have a group of spear-men, or group of Elites.
Groups of vaguely similar Berzerkers...

Aw, damn Cheng, now I need to make a customized Viking army!  :D :D :D

if I remember correctly, from your posts elsewhere too, that you have indicated that you'll be making this and that army   ;)
...to do so you've got to be loaded and will have no other life  :D
(its great to have so much to do before the samurai special cometh!!  :) )

Well... Yes, there are a few armies I will be making... :P
And I will start... eventually.
I just need to get past this one "rock" that is stopping me from moving on.
Triarii. :-\
I need to order them from Canada, and that is what is making me pause. :(
But soon I will buy them,
I just need to recount what I have and then go ahead and buy them! ;D

Then I can move on to my Knights of the Cross...
Elves, Samurai, more Romans, Macedonians, Hoplites, Colonial English, and WWI... :o ::)
