Title: grooved cannonballs

Hi, I want to know... do somebody know why the pirate spheric cannonballs are grooved (and the cannons ridged on the inside) in the 90's and latter Playmobil products?

They do not seem to be safer for kids, and are uglier than the old smooth cannonballs (and cannon interiors).

Maybe it's because none of us know the answer ... ;)

I could speculate, but I know that I don't really know.

The ridges make it quite difficult for children to launch anything other than the pm provided grooved cannon balls. These guns have in addition a shorter shooting range (unfortunately).
