Hello, Dan ...

I bought the Christmas "Three Kings" set just to get the camel.

I want to make a soldier of the German Camel Corps in SW Africa http://www.gwpda.org/photos/camel01.htm.

I really like soldiers on camels.  I want to follow him with british & Indian camel soldiers as well.

We started a new topic on the German Camel Corps!

All the best,
Richard

A guide cavalry patrol intercepts another attempt of the tsar to send his troops over the hindukush. In the background a few members of afghan tribes are watching the mêlée.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L-Y done yet again, Micheal !
I can see that gathering rare parts to make a small army was a challenge itself....thats' dedication   ;)

I wish I could help you with lighting in your last few photos too...its a colourful theme even tho' modern army colours were starting to set in...please continue this theme/re-enactment  :)

Very well done, Michael! ... ... ...

Have you seen the movie "Far Pavilions"?

Great pictures of the "Guides" in the beginning of the movie.

All the best,
Richard

Have you seen the movie "Far Pavilions"?

Great pictures of the "Guides" in the beginning of the movie.

I read the book a few years ago. I think it started my interest for British India.
I must have seen the film too but very long ago. So i am only now getting aware of the fact that a large part of it is more or less about the guides. Thank you for reminding me.  :)

And I must positively see the movie again.

Best regards

Click HERE for several screen shots from the film. These screen shots aren't the best, but they might bring back a few memories ... ;)

IMO, Ben Cross, Omar Sharif and Amy Irving are great in the movie.

For anyone who enoys a really good parade, the wedding procession in the second half of Far Pavilions is wonderful.
