Krystal, worse comes to worse, you'll have to buy the northerner with braces from US DS and change to a head with freckles, right?

and Richard,
you can be Gen.Lee if you need to change avatar again  :D
good to 'see' you!  ;D (sorry Krystal for digressing)

You mean this fig in the Fort Reno set?
http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-00-5730

I could do that, I suppose, but I'd still have to find a correct pair of arms as that klicky has beige coloured gloves, while my red-haired chap does not. ;D (I'm quite useless at swapping the hands - always end up cracking the wrists. :P)

Don't mention it! I enjoy the digressions. ;)

There are no buttons, just two broad, vertical yellow stripes down the front of the torso. I think they're supposed to represent braces.

You are correct, Krystal ...

Yes, they are supposed to be wearing "braces' (suspenders) over their shirts. This was common practice in the Hollywood movies (films) of the 1940s. The John Wayne film "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" is a good example.

Other than cost, I don't understand why Playmobil didn't continue the braces on the back of the figure ... ???

BTW ... The braces should be off white (not yellow) ... ;)

All the best,
Richard

you know, Krystal, i never noticed they are supposed to be gloves until after a couple of years later...by which time i had already been swapping their arms around so much so that i dont know who had those gloved hands  :P swop arms...dont swop hands!
(i always thought they just had darker hands  ;D )

and Richard, i really appreciate your thoughts on those braces...i have often wondered about them, the color and how they looked like from behind
 :D

we know older klickies dont have prints behind...its quite frustrating for customisers and i have been spraying or taping them ever since(i have shown most of my sprayed backs in all my themes.

of course some of these klikies have coats or capes over their backs..
these 'digressions' are good ya?

and Richard, another problem i have is their shirt tail that sticks out behind below their belts....when trying to complete their backs(i know some members paint the section below their belts to match their pants but this is against my own rules) what's your opinion?

thanks for letting me 'digress' Krystal ;)

here's a picture of one of my earliest customs...

wow interesting thread. richard is revealed (as hemingway-style gentlemen none the less ;)) and u posted some great pics from one of my all time fav. she wore a yellow ribbon :D
i suppose the main reason for not continuing the braces on the backs of the figures is a simply cost reason. it would porbably cost a lot not onyl to print the front but also the back of the figures, which of course is a pity.
back to topic though, i think i might be able to help u krystal. i have obtained quite a few 3815 sets so i am sure to have the fellow u r looking for.
let me know if u r still in need and if u are i will go find him for u ;)
I left my love a letter in the hollar of a tree.
I told her she would find me in the U.S. Cavalry.
High, yo, down they go, there's no such word as can't.
We'll ride clean down to hell and back for Ulysses Simpson Grant.

Yes, I'm still searching for the red-haired cavalryman! Thanks, Flash! :D
That would be great if you have a spare. Hopefully, I have something that you need and we can make a trade. :)

Hi Krystal

I just picked up a loose set on ebay. I was after the black trooper so that I can convert to an ACW Michigan regiment. therefore my red headed man is a spare. but he has no freckels and ordinary hands as oppose to riding cloves kind regards Craig. PS I am after the black cavalry tropers arms

Hi Craig!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm currently working out a trade with Flash. ;)

I don't have any spare black troopers, so I wouldn't have been able to help you there anyway. :(

Hopefully, someone else at GW-PC can. :)

I'm glad that it brings back happy memories for you, Craig.
And it makes a nice change from my beaver avatar at PlaymoFriends, right? ;)

I'd like to make some more women in uniform, but I'm not in a particularly creative mood at the moment.

"Goodbye, Krystal" ...  :'(

With a tear in our eye.
We say our goodbye.

Our Krystal was fun
Not a care in the world
Must she really run?
We loved that girl!

She winked and flirted,
With all of us here
Could outdrink us all
Liquor, wine or beer.

Sylvia's now come
To take her place.
Our Krystal's gone.
And, we've a sad face ...  :(

We'll miss you, Krystal ...

Richard

Thank you for the poem, Richard. :D :-*

I've only dropped the old name, not the whole persona. ;) I thought it might be less confusing for people, since I use my real name at PlaymoFriends.

I could perhaps change it again and have a combination of both names?? ;D
