I am not sure about the time period but I was shooting more towards the 12th Century. I have a hard time finding references for that time period, so far I only have the one book... but there doesn't seem to be a large fluctuation in the Samurai armor between the 12th century and the 18th (other than the chest piece becomes a steel breastplate).
Facemasks were not necessary to hold the helmet in place, which is good because I do not have the parts for it, nor the skills which Cheng used to create his facemasks. (Which are awesome!) However, if I do ever get the chance, then I will definitely try to make one. Even though I believe they are out of my time period.
Which reminds me, I have some new Samurai to show you all.
I got my DS order and so my Samurai army is most impressive.
Although, it is still no match for Cheng's. I do not have the camera now, so you will all have to wait for pictures. Sorry.
