French napoleonic Artillery
« on: August 11, 2005, 10:14:37 PM »
Hi,

since it will take some more time for me to finsh my promised uhlan I did a pic of one of my artillery regiments. This is the 2mè Régiment d'Artillerie à pied, currently attached to my I. Corps as reserve artillery and the only artillery regiment I have built so far (apart from the two guard artillery regts. that is ;) ).

As can be seen in the pic I have six long 12 pdr. guns and two howitzers in these units (plus two ammunition waggons). The mounted figures in front are the regimental colonel and his Major. Next to them is the eagle bearer and only one drummer. I could not find the other two drummers ... maybe they have deserted from the flags... I'll send the gendarmes for them ;)

The eight figures on the right are no artillerymen, but the artificers and miners attached to this unit from the 13th company of ouvriers. And finally you might notice the figures uniformed in sky-blue riding the draught-horses. These fellows are soldiers of the artillery train (8th Batallion of train). Their comrades of the elite company of the 8th train-bat. are serving in the 9th mounted artillery regt. which has yet to be finished ;)

Great art, and for an amateur of this time I incline myself in front of this splendid work. Very realistic, congratulations

Great stuff EsDoc!

Ahem, the ever inquisitive de Warrens would love a close up of one cannon  complete with horses, crew etc.

 Cheng too, I suspect.

Thanks a lot gentlemen ;) I'm glad you like the imperial artillery :D

@ andy: No, you din't see these guys last time in Peine. The ones you saw last time, were the men & guns of the 9th horse artillery regt. (who still aren't finished) ;)

@ David: I'll do a close up when I'm back in Ibbenbueren (where my army has it's headquarters). The limbers are handmade with the help of the original Playmo-wheels :)
