Has this forum a special filter for offensive words ???
« on: June 07, 2009, 06:59:59 PM »
Since many years my PM nick name on several PM sites is Deadeye D-I-C-K (using the hyphens because otherwise it gets changed automatically). Lately, in all posts my nick name has been changed to Deadeye Dick. Now I understand that some words may have a somewhat offensive second meaning, but would you like to have Moby D-ick's name spelled as Moby Dick  ???

Can this be changed please, because I'm starting to get a multiple-personality disorder  ;D

Thx,

DD.

Fixed! ;D

A few years back, before registration was made more secure, we had a really big problem with spammers at GW-PC.

At that time, I added loads of words to the censored word list to try and prevent the nasty stuff from getting through when the moderators were offline.  I'd completely forgotten about the list until you made this topic.

I've removed the word "dick" so you can now post away to your heart's content . ;)

LOL... all of your "Ricks" in the post above have now automatically become "Dicks!"
;D

Very funny, Sylvia ... ;) ...

BTW, can we import PF's emoticons over here, so that everyone at GW-PC can also use them?

And, thanks for helping DD!

All the best,
Richard

Yep, I can do that! No problem. ;)

By enabling "customized" smileys, it has added an extra admin function which allows both of us to add or edit the selection of smileys. Whenever you upload a new one, you need to create a code for it that isn't already in use. You can do this either with characters or letters, e.g. ^*) or :fun:

Can I also change the smiley set style currently in use from default to classic? I prefer the sharper look of the classic ones. These ones always look a bit fuzzy-faced to me. ;D

Something's not working. I thought it would be easy to switch the set of smileys and add new ones, but it's not.

When I try to upload I get an error message. "The following smiley directories are not writable: default, classic "

I think the permission on the smiley directory needs to be modified by Yoyei before I can add to it.

In addition to that problem, the previous batch of smileys have all decided to go on strike. I'm now trying to find them all and restore them to the posting form... :o
