Help! French drummers`uniform during the / years war.

I have seen this thread, and not to step on any toes, as I'm a new guy, but all of you are pretty off the mark in terms of French Drummers of this time, I ave been a Seven Yrs War nut for yrs and know a lot about the French Army.  That last site, I don't understand it, it's not right,

There are only two versions of Drummers in the entire French Army in this period.  The blue coat, red undercloths version of the Kings Liverie, and the reverse colors, Red Coat, blue undercloths version of the queens liverie, none of which are shown in the posts.  Let me a couple days to find a good link to a picture of this.  No matter the regiment, it has one of these variations for a drummer.   Almost every one has the Kings or Blue coat.  Actually that photo of the figures above is pretty good, but it isn't very good I think to explain the actual uniform for painting.

Sorry but I don't know that. There is many many versions for drummers in line regiments in the french army during the "old regime" (1650-1789).
But a lot of them carried the "livrée du roi". It's not very easy to know wich one wearied it, but most regiment who wearied the "fleurs de lys" on their wihte cross flag wearied the livrée too. Many other regiments wearied it, probably all the "prince's regiments" (who didn't have the country name) but some with coutry name weariedthe livrée too.

The regiments who didn't weared the livrée wearied some extravagants color with, in the most case, no relation with their regimental colors.

I think, that the queen livrée was only wearied by the queen's regiments (cavalery and foot ones)

The film "the last of the mohican" was a great one for uniforms! all is good, even the grenadier from the 60th with is fur cap (the only one at this time). French uniform, flag are corect even in size. It's a very good reconstitution film. You cuold probably found what you want inside because AWI is too late for you. (and sorry Paul, but the patriot is not very good for uniform usefull, french uniform was not like those in the film)

Afflicted Stephane, I left myself misused by an interview of Mel Gibson, in which it implied that all had been worked with readiest of the detail, and thus of the history. A priori it took freedom with the French uniforms.

Yes, the Patriot is very bad for any kind of historical fact, use nothing from that movie, I mean nothing!!!  It was deplorable

It is not the case for "the last of the mohicans" (I don't know if it's the good title in englis language  :? ). It's a realy good film about military history (you could see the beast skin on the gun before firing :roll: ) and the uniforms.

Yes, the Last of Mohicans was very good, the opposite end of the spectrum so to speak.

that confiirme that Mel Gibson is perhaps a good actor (subject to the opinion of each one), but it is especially a liar on the historical quality of its films. "the last of the mohicans", I did not see this film but I will take your advice and I will buy it in DVD

Mel Gibson is a realy good actor a film maker (Im a fan of him). Form the film the last of the mohicans there exist many versions. The last one (and I think the newst one) was really good ("Whats the problem?"-"They have bigger canons and more of them!"   ) According to the uniforms I cant tell wheter they r originally or not.

Yes, it is! It's very funny to try to peint it on 15mm lead miniatures with stilized things but on playmobil you MUST do the good chainned ribon.

another good source for uniforms of the napoleonic war is the "sharpe" series. very good uniforms there and lots of different ones too!

This is a bit OT (and an extremely late post for this topic :oops:), but you just reminded me that I heard a new Sharpe film is coming out in April - the first one for 8 years and it sounds like it will be just as good if not better than the others.

It's called Sharpe's Challenge and the story is set in India this time.
