I want to make a "Little War" in my real garden:)
« on: July 11, 2005, 12:49:42 AM »
Hi, I'm very new to this, but have loved playmobil since I found a pirate ship under the X mas tree on my 6th birthday.  That was many yrs ago.  I am a wargamer, and also love HG wells Little wars, I have a large backyard and could have some wars but I'm a little confused still about how people amass such forces of identical soldiers.  i've read a little regarding customizing, and looked on ebay, but still am wondering for example the outside battle on Garden Wargaming with 40 or 50 soldiers in a regt. all the same can happen without dumping a few grand in figures on ebay?  Are people taking apart random figures and assembling them with correct leg, arm, torso colors?  Also, I want to do a Little wars time theme, so Victorian stuff is needed.  I need Picklehaubs, I need Pith Helmets, I also need to know if any turn of the century field gun can be had.  Any suggestions?

Hello Jude,
Do you know about the Playmobil Direct service? You can phone or fax them and order  any figure or accesssory that they still produce.  Picklehauber haven`t been sold for years, so you won`t be able to buy them, but you can purchase as many pith helmets as you like.  I live in Germany , so I can´t give you details of the US direct Service, but I`m sure one of the U.S. members will help out.

As for customising, most of the people here do it. How else can you find the regiment of your dreams.    Be careful, it can become an obsession!  :D

Thanks David, I don't know where to get the number or email of this direct service.  The playmobil.com site has a way to buy stuff, but not the parts and hats like pith helmets.   I have seen two sets of stuff with picklehaubs on ebay.  If I buy them, I could use those for starters and make some molds, then copy I think.

Again, many thanks,
Jude

You won`t be able to buy the pith helmets or pickelhaube from DS, but the bolt action rifles and kepis should be easy enough. If you look at the Playmobil website there`s a telephone number. If you give them a call and ask about their direct & spare parts service, I`m sure you`ll get the information you need.

All the best,

 David
