The embroidered "mitre" cap is too early for the American War of Independence.  It was worn in the Seven Years War (French & Indian War in the US).  By the time of the AWI the caps were made of black bearskin with a black metal plate with "GIIIR" and scroll work in silver on the front.

Thanks, Dan ...

I can see where there might have been some confusion, because we were talking about so many different hats at the same time ... :)

As you undoubtedly know ... Even though the Brits abandoned the mitre cap prior to the AWI, both the Germans and the Russians resurrected it for their "elite" regiments prior to the First World War.

Thanks again for your clarification, Dan. Sometimes I stray, so please always feel free to "jump in" and help me out. (Lord knows I need it !!!) ... ;)

However, let us always remember ... This is Playmobil !!! So, we NEVER have to be "historically correct" ...  :D

All the best,
Richard
