My conversions

you have picked up customising very well for you first custom!!
it took me a long time to reach what you have done... :oops:

i like your belt buckle and which method did you use to stick those bags and sword? (...is he 'playable'?)

i dont remember anyone painting 3 rows of buttons for accuraccy...you have a steady hand...do you paint plastic scale models too?  :wink:  

your rifle looks a bit different...did you shorten it?

The belts are thick paper ("cartridge paper" its called in the UK - I don't know if its called that elsewhere) glued on and the boxes (which are scrap wood) and the sword (which is a Playmo rapier cut down) are glued and pinned on so it is playable.

Well spotted Cheng, I did cut the rifle down.  I live about 1/2 an hour from the Regimental museum in Winchester and I went there and was surprised how short they were in real life so I cut about 1/2 a centimetre off the end of the normal Playmo rifle.

I used to paint model soldiers but I find klickies more fun.  The buttons were marked on in pencil (to get the spacing right), then painted in sliver, then I corrected the errors in green, then I corrected those errors in silver, then I corrected ............

One of them took about 6 goes before it looked right!

I'm now working on an English Archer of the Middle Ages but I work very slowly so it'll be some time before its ready.

what glue do you use?
when you pin it down, do you cut off the heads of the pin first?
do you micro drill first or are you able to press your pins in?!  

I used to paint HO-OO & 1/35 figures from Airfix to Tamiya...life is less stressful with playmobil....we dont have to be that accurate  

yes, i can visualise your archer(cone helmet of cloth? i've plenty of both)..do show us...it will surely revive my interest in medieval themes again    i wanted to do a medieval cannonniers but ran out of steam...maybe you may like this picture

I use standard "superglue" and headless pins.  I tried just pushing them in but its easier with a micro drill - in fact I use a pin as the bit instead of a "real" drill.

My archer will have a cone helmet and I love your cannon and its crew Cheng.

I think I might have a go at one of those next (maybe....)

I know the feeling! :wink: Little things like buttons can be really difficult to paint, especially if you have a row of them and need them all similar in size.  Full credit for keeping at it until you achieved something you were completely satisfied with.

Really pleased to see you've crossed over to using your model painting skills on klickies! You're off to a great start and I will be keeping an eye out for your next customs, as I'm sure you will just get better and better at it.
