The belts are thick paper ("cartridge paper" its called in the UK - I don't know if its called that elsewhere) glued on and the boxes (which are scrap wood) and the sword (which is a Playmo rapier cut down) are glued and pinned on so it is playable.
Well spotted Cheng, I did cut the rifle down. I live about 1/2 an hour from the Regimental museum in Winchester and I went there and was surprised how short they were in real life so I cut about 1/2 a centimetre off the end of the normal Playmo rifle.
I used to paint model soldiers but I find klickies more fun. The buttons were marked on in pencil (to get the spacing right), then painted in sliver, then I corrected the errors in green, then I corrected those errors in silver, then I corrected ............
One of them took about 6 goes before it looked right!
I'm now working on an English Archer of the Middle Ages but I work very slowly so it'll be some time before its ready.
