According to the statements of some civilians, which lived in the proximity, it seemed that mounted units, which had come at night over the border, has kill the soldiers. However it was not possible to assigned these troops to any known grouping. General Fullside was confused and helpless. Who could have arranged this? For McAllen however, the case was apparently clear: The occupier of Houston had pursued them and after his brigade had leaved, they have slammed. For McAllen was this a dangerous situation. As the Division moved to Texas, he was in fear about the possibility that general Fullside could step in contact with mayor Mullholand. Then the truth probably come out and his career would be terminated. His only chance was, that Fullside not involved in discussions, separates attacked immediately. In the following chaos would be already an opportunity for him, to get rid of the remaining witnesses.
The whole afternoon McAllen tried to convince the higher officers of the division that the terrorists from Houston ,were the authors. Finally over half of the officers believed him, however general Fullside remained uncertain. Nevertheless he had reached, that the tendency in the division was most provoked. The men demanded revenge for this massacre and McAllen was nearly sure, that there would be an favorable incident for him, when the inevitable confrontation comes.
