The new red coats inspired me to work on a soldier for the period around 1700, probably a guy fighting on the fields of Blenheim or maybe a bit eralier at the Battle of the Boyne.

WOW! :o :o :o
I really like the long coat... isn't it from the Santa set? :o
(Someone isn't getting any presents this year. ;) )

The cuffs are great, I didn't know they made large blue cuffs.
What set are they from? ???

Really great job once again! ;D

Not my theme(s), but excellent examples of what can be done with original parts. As many have said before: it's a shame Geobra doesn't have you in their design department!

Hi WoT,

I think the cuffs are probably these: 30 06 0890 - Cuff, wide (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-06-0890), which I know best from this set: 3652 - Tournament Knights With Viewing Stand (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3652&pics=on), but apparently they've been used in some other sets as well.

Cheers,

AndrewL

No specials but they do not fit into my other series and there will be no more sets for this topic.....so I put them here: Prussian infantry and dragoons around 1870.

Title: Re: specialist's specials
Post by: specialist on April 17, 2012, 04:08:46 pm
Dear cheng, the arms belong to one of the newer adventurers. And the grey is indeed light as you can see when you compare it to his cap, which is the colour you were looking for.
Title: Re: specialist's specials

thanks Ralf (asche auf meine kopf?) and if you had wanted to rub off 1 pair of pockets, which pair would you have retained? (they did have 4 breast pockets but the 2 large ones were below their belts right?) but I can see why you didnt...either pair would look very odd without the other, being too high or too low :P
aber my choice would be to erase the upper pair and put those old huge grey PM lapels under his neck ;)

We need an International Schenk Collectors Club that goes for the relaunch of discontinued sets. :-D

One question: Does the blue of the new kepi match exactly the existing blue parts?
Title: Re: specialist's specials
Post by: specialist on October 09, 2012, 06:16:25 pm
The blue seems to be "the old one", matching older (and of course new) western sets and it is not the "fresher" blue of other recent sets. So it is no problem finding matching pants (just avoid the specials) but collars and cuffs are a bit different but is looks ok to me (not as bad as the different dark blues)

exquisite 'singles' box customs once again, Ralf.
could you tell me what cap decoration you are representing with the new blue cap (with the wreath)
