Hi,
Over at playmofriends I did a
post about making kilts and pith helmets.
Richard told me it might be a good idea
posting it here,so any ideas are welcome
and appreciated. ;D

Hi,
Does anyone know how to make Kilts and pith helmets?
If anybody does could someone explain it to me in steps with
pics? Thanks in advance. :) I'm going to build a highland unit.

I planed a highand unit as well if u take the Roman special and paint it it should work somehow, my only problem were the tchakos/helmets so I decided to build a Nassau regiment now.

Which roman special? I only have one 4632 and can't get 4560 or
4659.

I mean the 4659 one, why dont u have that one? :P 4653 Gladator would work perhaps too, but his skin is a bit too dark for a highland guy...
-
Hi,
I can't get 4659 because I
live in America. I had an idea
to make a kilt though, cut a
dress/skirt in half and cut off
the skin leg part from 4654
pirate and glue the parts together.
[Just an idea.] :-\

hi,
do you plan to build a few figures or mass production, and for which purpose (play or display)?
as a substitute for the older high topee helmet there is at least the later type, which can still be ordered in geobra's direct store.
from actual experience i can add that the modeling of the older type (p.e. with FIMO) is not too easy :P but maybe possible :-\.
-
as henry already pointed out its the question if u want 'mass production' or just one or two figures. To my mind the idea with cutting off a scirt at its half and then taking other legs sounds good though Im not sure if the glue holds them together proberly, just have a go and present us the result :)

I'm making them for play. I intend to make about
10. I think the leg/dress idea will probably work, but
it will be glued with superglue and played with
carfully of course. ;) I'm going to try one first.
What older topee hat helmet and what newer version? ???
I've never heared of either. :-[

topee helmet is another term for those helmets you intent, the older type used in the second half of the 19th century is what some of us need, the newer type that came into use about 1900 is sold with some of the recent playmo-dinosaur sets. maybe you have seen it already in the "the great parade" thread. :)

Hi,
Today I tried to order the 4654 pirate
and Cleopatra,[for my expiriment] but they were
out of stock! :'( So I ordered 2 packs of Redcoats
and 3 packs Union soldiers. ;D I will try to get those
figures soon. :)
