I tried to make some napoleonic wargaming figures. Nothing too elaborate, here some the Austrians.

Then some Hessen-Darmstadt infantry, The Landgraf Regiment....
and two Westphalian Lancers.
(one day I`m going to make wargaming figures af all the Confederation of the Rhein armies, one day...)

Beautifully composed photos, David. The backdrops you created really complement the figures and make them a joy to the eye. Love the combination of blue sky and uniforms with the yellow of the sunflowers - it's very summery. 8) (A typical female response to pics of men in uniform, I suppose! :?)
I also like how you put flowing manes and tails on the old-style playmo horses. It looks very effective! :)
Btw, your shako link is not working - the "l" at the end must have fallen off when you copied it. ;)

Good catch, Krystal ... But, not to worry, it's OK! (I just slipped a duplicate page in with .htm) ... So, both links (yours and David's) are working fine now ... :)
BTW, David ... Your conversions are quite simple yet very effective. Well done! (Of course, everyone is going to want to know where you got those beautiful Westphalian helmets!) ... ;)

hey David,
those look very cool!I love the landgraf regiment the most!I also think that the decors are very effective.I want to make some like those but i still have problems making a good clear picture inside the house so i always take my pictures outside :D
What i am wondering....you most have a lot of soldiers and shako's, where do you get them .... ds??Some of them aren't even available anymore.The most have cost you a fortune?! :shock:

So that's where you took them from! I didn't spot them immediately because they look so natural.
I also like how the soldiers don't all look identical. Even though they wear the same uniform, their faces and hair gives them each a unique character. In fact, one of the footsoldiers (if that's the right term) looks very, very familiar... but I can't quite place him. :wink:
The Grenadier Officier is my favourite. He's so handsome! 8)
(Rats! Can we get a :love: emoticon in this forum, Richard? I really miss using that one :? )

The helmets were made from broken Roman helmets, the ear flaps break off pretty easily. I removed the plume, flattened the top of the helmet and made the crests of wood, then painted them. The metal parts are metallic look plastic. I made them years ago ... as you know Richard :)

No they didn`t cost a fortune, some came from eBay and some were given to me. The " Redcoats" are available from the Direct Service now. That means you can order as many shakos as you like; they won`t cost more than 15 to 20 cents each. Removing the painnt is very easy. :)

Hi David - wonderful as always!
The "horsicorns" are terrific. I thought you'd molded their manes with milliput. :)
And the customs you shared in this thread are fantastic for wargaming. As you said, they are not too elaborate (so that you would hesitate to "play" with them) but they are different and detailed enough to represent the specific troop type you require. Very nicely done!
