Title: New forum engine
Post by: Yoyei on March 27, 2006, 07:18:53 PM
We are using a new engine for GW-PC. This new forum is more powerful than the old one.

Unfortunately while the data import from the other forum it is possible that some post of the last days could be lost.

Please, if you have any question or problem contact Richard or Yoyei

The new URL to GW-PC is https://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum

Enjoy

Hm, in my opinion it is slower then the older one.

And I've two questions:

1) How can I post a picture? I cannot fint an option for this. I know this way "img" "/img", but for this you need some webspace.

2) How can I placed smileys?

Bennain

Click on 'Additional Options' below your message. That link will open some new options, for example attach pictures

2) How can I placed smileys?

I am working on it. (I think I need a smiley now :) )

At the bottom, near stats, you can see this link 'View the 10 most recent posts on the forum.'
I will try to increase the recent post we can see

Mission impossible! There are only this three options:

* Notify me of replies.
* Return to this topic.
* Don't use smileys.

No chance to make attachement.

2) How can I placed smileys?

I am working on it. (I think I need a smiley now :) )

Fine!

These are the "little" problems when importing data ;)

I have changed the permission of all the forums. Please, try to attach again

hi yoyei! first of all thank you for your work on the new forum!!! second, thanx for moving my post to the right section! and third ;) thanx for the info...
i must say however i liked the old system better, personally i found the "view posts since last visit" button more convenient and when u klicked it the layout was arranged in a somehow clearer way. just my personal views of course and by no means meant as a belittlement of ur and/or richards work(!) - just as constructive input!

Thanks Flash

This is the first step, importing the data from the other forum. The next one will upgrade some features like the "view posts since last visit", for example.

I hope it will be finished very soon ;)

Well, I also speak english and this forum is a good way to train it. My english is not so good at the moment because in the last years I have had enough chances to speak or write. So the result is, that I lost the knowledge about using the correct grammar and I also forgot a lot of words.

But, I also liked the older version more because there I haved all the buttons in german!

And, where are the smilies??

I love it! You've done a fantastic job, Yoyei! :D

But then it is familiar to me, because I've used SMF before. ;)

I can understand that it must be a bit disconcerting for users who haven't, because they have to learn where to find stuff all over again. Most of the previous forum features are still there, plus there's some really helpful new ones we didn't have before -  they are just located in different places or called different things.

If it helps smooth the transition, Yoyei, I could also try to answer any technical questions GW-PC members might have about how they can change certain things like notification preferences, etc. :)

And, where are the smilies??

I'm also trying to work out why the smilies aren't showing up on the "Post Reply" screen. That is a little strange, because they work when you use the 'shorthand' codes. ???

Thank you Krystal. We will be very thankful if you use your experience to help GW-PC members ;)

I am looking for the smileis too. I think we must offer a reward :P

And, YAY again!

Now we have some "show unread post" text links just under the menu and news panel too, everybody! ;D
Just perfect, Yoyei! They will really make life easier. :)
