Welcome to the GW-PC forum, Simmi!
You have done an excellent job of capturing the feeling of how the Confederate soldier actually looked during the American Civil War (ACW).
There seems to be quite a few ACW fans here at GW-PC. And, I am sure that they are all as happy that you joined us as I am.
Again, welcome to GW-PC, Simmi!
All the best,
Richard
-

Hi Simmi, and again - welcome!
Your ACW Confederates are fantastic! As Richard says, they capture the feel of a "rebel" army perfectly.

It is obvious that you know a lot about the American Civil War (ACW)! I love the flags, the sashes on your officers, the Confederate artillery. In fact, I like every foto. (I have looked at all of them over and over.) ... :)
What kind of lighting do you use? And, what kind of camera? Your pictures look like scenes from a Civil War film!
Very well done. And, I look forward to seeing lots more of your battle scenes in the future.
Thank you for sharing Simmi!
All the best,
Richard

The pictures look like u saw the film Gods & Generals and tried to reinact some film scenes with ur playmobil army. :D

Hi Richard,
I use a Sony digital 8 video camera and the lights are normal Lamps. As I was still very young I was already interested in the american civil war. I still know as I was at school and every day I paint some soldier :D
I still work on the pictures with Photoshop 8 of Adobe. The original pictures do not see always so good
Thank`s to all here :P
I am spurred by your comments :D
-
So then, I will post some new pics.
This Diorama should actually represent Fredericksburg however the place was much too small.
Soon, I will post new pics with a new Diorama :D
-
Hello, Simmi ...
Your Confederate officer looks just like me ...
All the best,
Richard
-
Richard - you ARE the spitting image of Robert E. Lee! :D
-
may i ask a customising/historical question?
would it be correct to use the
1)checkered shirt of the male gardener special 4613 or
2)the old worker kliky wearing blue overalls or dungerees(?) or
3)jeans
for ACW, in case they were not 'invented' yet?
-
Richard, I think you are the grand, grand, grand father of my officer. His name is General Robert Edward Lee 8)
Capitan Enrique, ya your right :D
3 new pics about my battle ...
-
Ok, I will show you my confederate position :)

I may be "old," Simmi ... But, I'm not THAT old ...
Your new fotos are wonderful. (I love the one of the dim-witted Yankee officer standing in the middle of the creek ... :)
BTW, Simmi, I like your avatar!

You ain't seen nothing yet! ;) Muahahahahaha!

Fantastic photos, Simmi! I love the close-up shots. They really give a feeling of being present at the battle instead of just viewing it from afar. 8)
I also like the way you added smoke to the cannons. Is it made from cotton wool? :)
"The grand, grand, grandfather???" ...

My first thought was that Simmi was dating you by your medieval attire, Richard, but perhaps I was wrong. :P
-
wow simmi i am more than impressed!
the western theme always was my favourite and i like the ur soft customizations! could u let us know what kind of paint u use? and how u apply the paint? a brush or something else? (a stupid question maybe but i am only starting off and would be very grateful for any hint :D) thanx a lot in advance and i will visit ur site it looks awsome!
-
@Flash
I´m sorry for my delay
The hats and caps I paint with grey spray color and I use still Revell Color. I print out and cut the flags with my printer. So, that`s all I think. The southern soldier looks like with civil clothes and Uniforms by the way :D
Some new pics and my first Sharpshooter in the 20th Maine Infantry. I hope you like him ...
-
and now my rebells and some new stuff comes as soon as possible :)
But it`s only in german, sorry
-

Happy new year Simmi, nice pictures (do u know the movie Gettysburgh?)
-
oh i like them simmi!!!!!
i wasn't interested in ACW sharpshooters but after seeing your this latest pic....hey!!!! wowwww...i like their pants with upturned (is that what its meant to be?) touser legs!!!
hey! youre starting to bend arms too?! (flag bearer)..thats painful  i can see his burn scabs through his sleeves
i love your cannoneer(with the red gloves...do they really wear red gloves?)!
great pictures and customs!
-
Thank`s to all here :D
@ cheng
you see white socks over the trousers :?
It is not painful my bending :( He carries a shell jacket, that´s what you mean ... I think so ...
The southern soldier did not have large selection of uniforms and accessories at this time, so they took everything which they found, in this case red gloves
-
Happy new year Simmi, nice pictures (do u know the movie Gettysburgh?)

oh...like gaiters, thanks for correcting me...otherwise i could have started to paint a few folded/rolled-up trousers legs...they dont have jeans back then do they?
thanks also for trying to understand my English...its much better than trying to use the internet translater for German...i find it very very
confusing
in your latest photo...i see you have started to bend legs too?! Ja, its at a very nice and natural angle....but its still against my own rules...you have to stick him on a base or he will fall evertime you touch your shelves
-
thanx a lot for ur reply and the info simmi and yes i think they r great! :D :D :D more pls! :P
-
Great pictures! I love your backround and the costums. I have a great amount of western soldiers but they dont have the great uniforms. One question: where did you take these pictures? :o :o :o ;) :) ;) ;D

hi there Simmi! I like ur pictures, very nice regiments :)
-
It's wonderfull Simmi, I love all you do. Congratulations : ;)
-
Your town is great wish I had the space to build something similar. Mind you if I did have the space I would buy a load of the victorian houses. To build a southern city with the ACW troops fighting street to street. Now that would make a mean display.
-
i love your town and i loved the rebel officer with the goatee!
-
Hy Simmi,
thanks for your pics. Your reb troops look very well.
How is your style, more close to historic reality or more self minded.
For example, I am still not sure how to down size a company of infantry which includes 64 to 83 privates, in additionen the officer ranks, so they are about 100.
How many you put in a company, I guess arround 20-25?
My choice, the basic units will probably have a size of 32 privates per company. Ohter thing I am fighting with are the uniforms itself. The black belts and shoulder straps are barely visible on dark body of the blue ones, so I will switch on the brown ones you are using, together with the water bottles from the grey's.
I hope to settle up the first company of the blue troops within the next time.
Looking forward to see more of your troops.
Thanx
-
I've only just seen these but they are superb settings and photos.
Really well done!
-
@Hancock
My troops (company) have 10-12 Soldier and one Officer (Captain)
The 1st Virginia Regiment have 5-6 Campanys and one Colonel and my blues are the 20th Maine Infantry wich have 7-8 Companys. But I must collect some more soldiers, to built the complete Regiments with musicals and Officer stuff ;)
Long way to the complete scenery :P
-
Some more pics, from my soldiers ;D
-
hello again Simmi!
went through each and every one of your photos again!
they are so real that i can imagine them moving...is like you were there to photograph them yourself using a color-camera from the future ;D
your photograpny...the diorama and setting of your pieces, really a work of a master...I salute you! :)
-
Hey everyone, simmi, i noticed the man with the goatee. Could you tell me what set he came with? Thx, ajr10
