Perhaps you have seen the famous Malone's helmets in Playclicks.
Well, if not these are my helmets and weapons. They are not finished, I must paint them, but you can imagine the rest :wink:

Great design and superb casting. (Who is Malone?)
Are you using Alumilite or some another plastic? Please tell us about your mould making techniques and your casting process.
We want to know more ... :)
And, did you ever make any Aztecs to go with your conquistadores?

I have to say i'm very impressed, because they look great. What type of material did you use and how did you make the molds for some of the helmets that Playmo doesn't make :?:

Malone (or wizard Malone as he is named in Playclicks, you can see why) is an expert in the art of silicone and molds. The designs of the original helmets are his.
Other fellows in Playclicks are creating fantastic and original pieces: helmets, shields, weapons, accesories for ships,... No limits for imagination

The conquistadores helmet was used during XVI century in Europe, not only in Spain. The spanish conquerors in America and the Tercios in Europe make them very famous.

As I have said that helmet was used in all Europe. The authentic spanish helmet during XVI century was this:

Many of us in the United States are more familiar with the "comb" morion of the conquistadores as illustrated below ...

gentlemen,
i didnt know there was another version at the same time..
so who wore this 'authentic' version while the conquistadores in america(those who fought montezuma or the Aztecs) & europe wore the more popularly known 'comb' version?
just curious :D

Both helmets are authentic. But the comb model, also known as conquistadores helmet, was used in all Europe. The second morion was used ONLY by spanish armies.
It was preferred by spanish in XVI century because it was ligther and more comfortable. The protection was similar between those types.

Sorry, but I belive that some of the last morion were used in british army during the begining of the XVIIème century. Most européans piqueman use it in XVIIth century for the resons you explain. Probably late than spanish because they want to make the same thing than spanish, the first army in these times. In France I belive we call it "cabasset". Only infanterie man use them.

sorry if my mind is a bit slow gentlemen!
but i saw 3 helmets...2 with combs and 1 without(with very extensive patterns)...so which is the second helmet?
also, which helmet did the spanish used in south america?

Sorry Cheng. My speach is about the two yoyei's "morion" helmet.
In french, morion is used only for helemet with "comb" not for the second one presented by yoyei ;)
I hope I'm more clear now.

The selvmade-Helmets are great! :D Gassy_de introducet this Creation in Playmo-Portal months ago. Also the Shields are great.
Is it possible to get some Roman Helmets? My centurios and decurios would be very happy :wink:

You are right Stéphane, I was talking for XVI century. The spanish Tercios extend those morions in Europe

About the helmets, I went to a lecture on armour at the National Army Museum in London and the lecturer said the "comb" style was the earlier version but was replaced by the pointed version without a comb. He said it was simply a matter of fashion - it didn't provide better protecton or anything like that.

I tried making a comb type morion for some model soldiers once (not Palymobil). It was very difficult. Those curves are harder to do and to get to "look right" than you would at first imagine. I did it in the end but about 12 early attempts ended up in the bin!
