May I present that gallant old soldier Colonel Ramrod VC of Her Majesty's 18th (Royal Irish) Regiment. Wearing his VC and also his medals for the Crimean War and the Maori War in New Zealand.

His medals.
I'm currently working on another Victorian hero - Captain Mainbrace VC of the Royal Navy.

He looks GREAT, Dan!
How did you make the hat?
-
Thanks Richard!
It's the Union soldier's kepi, built up with miliput (greenstuff) with a pin from a bulletin board as the pom pom.
-
Brilliant idea on the hat, Dan.
It looks wonderful. Can't wait to try to make one.
Thanks for the idea!

Superb detail, Dan! I really like him. :)
-
what a handsome custom, Dan!
well done!
and thanks for the bit of history :)
do they often hold their sabres in the opposite direction?
-
Yes Cheng. It was usual to hold them that way while walking. The Colonel has just stopped for a moment while inspecting the barracks.

So much would be possible. Although I hardly paint pm I got hooked back then by creations like this.
-
I noticed the ribbons are actually attached, not just painted on. Nice attention to detail.

Thank you all for the kind words.
