The 8th Army was one of the best-known formations of the British Army during WW2.
with units from Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc
They fought longer than any other British army in WW2,
famous for the breaking fo the siege of Tobruk in 1941 albeit at a heavy cost,
Montgomery's 8th Army through the 2nd battle of Alamein pursued (but could not catch)Rommel across Africa to Tunisia.
In February 1943, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower won in Tunisia and went on to invade Sicily, with the Army losing approx 13,000 men.
On April 9, 1945, the 8th Army launched its last offensive with the U.S.5th on the west to conquer Italy.
Churchill noted: "There have been few campaigns with a finer culmination "

Marvelous customs, Cheng !!!
How about a scratch built Bren Gun carrier (or a Playmobil Jeep) for them to ride in?
-
good to hear from you again, Richard!
thanks and a Bren carrier would be fantastic (scratch-built from Lego maybe :P)
-
Hmmm ... a Bren Gun carrier in Playmobil scale made from Lego. That's a great idea!
Cheng, do you have the Lego pieces to do that?

my lego technics & mindstorm sets are from yesteryears :P
before lego starwars which has those light sand colored blocks....the toughest parts to gather will be the boogies and the tracks...the other vehicle I like would be a Priest (on a sherman chassis)
...thanks for sharing the beautiful photo....it sure brings back happy memories :)
i was wondering why the modeller draped a half open nazi flag...either they just managed to bluff a stuka pilot or they are germans on a dangerous mission...what do you think? :P

Magnificent customs Cheng!
They look superb! :)
Thank you for the background. :)
-
well done, the british :)
...either they just managed to bluff a stuka pilot or they are germans on a dangerous mission...what do you think? :P
on their rush to victory against the PzKpfw VI they have no time to store all their trophies properly

...on their rush to victory against the PzKpfw VI they have no time to store the trophies properly
thanks Micheal!
....and I would rush the other way if its a Tiger(PzKpfw VI)...instead of becoming yet another stripe on its barrel :D
-
Nice looking troops, Cheng. :)
-
They are nice. The guy in the beret looks like one to the "Two Types" a cartoon strip popular at the time with the 8th Army.

That's the difference between us and how distinguished gentlemen go on a tiger hunt. :D
