Title: Samurai, Thanks Cheng!
Post by: WarriorOfToys on March 26, 2011, 05:29:20 AM
Thanks to Cheng, I can make this new Samurai helmet.  ;D
I know this in not the same way you use the "horns" Cheng,
but I put my own twist on it.  :)

I hope you all like it.

YOSHI!!! very well done WoT!
his lamella shoulder and leg covers are so much better than mine...I'm forced to pick up your Japanese gauntlet or its mass hara-kiri for my loyal samurai(s) ;)

Don't worry, at least you have more then me. ;)
I do like your leg armor a lot though,
I think it is better then mine, because mine in not split enough. :)

However, I do have an ace up my puffy Samurai sleeves,
but I will not show him until I have a Kantana for him! ;D

yours are more accurate, except that mine makes it easier for them to ease themselves in the battlefield  ;D

no hurry WoT, take your time while we recruit more ashigaru(s) from the villages  :D

:P Too much information! ;)

I am not taking too much time,
the day that katana arrives is the day I also get 6 more samurai... hopefully. ::)

Amazing Samuri WoT  :o
Would it be 17th Century, Tokugawa shogunate, or later?

Very good. Even Cheng says so, and he’s the resident Samurai master.
There is one thing that bothers me; ¿Aren’t Samurai supposed to have a facemask? The facemask was what held the helmet to the head…

Thank you very much Playmoguy and Andy! :)

I am not sure about the time period but I was shooting more towards the 12th Century. I have a hard time finding references for that time period, so far I only have the one book... but there doesn't seem to be a large fluctuation in the Samurai armor between the 12th century and the 18th (other than the chest piece becomes a steel breastplate).

Facemasks were not necessary to hold the helmet in place, which is good because I do not have the parts for it, nor the skills which Cheng used to create his facemasks. (Which are awesome!) However, if I do ever get the chance, then I will definitely try to make one. Even though I believe they are out of my time period. ;)

Which reminds me, I have some new Samurai to show you all. :)
I got my DS order and so my Samurai army is most impressive. ;) Although, it is still no match for Cheng's. I do not have the camera now, so you will all have to wait for pictures. Sorry. :-[
