Title: My Newest Samurai
Post by: WarriorOfToys on September 12, 2010, 06:42:00 PM
Here is my newest Samurai Creation,
I have made him to look a little more like the
Playmobil Samurai that will be produced next year.
And also to look like he is from a slightly earlier period of Japanese history.

Instead of the Plate armor that I had on him before
I have replaced it with Lamellar armor.
(Small leather/iron plates that have been laced together
to create a mobile, yet strong suit of armor)

To the Japanese this armor was called a Yoroi.
So here he is:

I hope you like him. :)

Well done. The black legs fit better but both (yours and the one of gaspofreud) still look at least as same samurai as the upcoming special. And this without new parts.  ;D ;D

sorry h martini , i forget to answer you : i meda this custom 2 year before ! yes i think the creator who works for playmobils are happy to see customs and take a lot of ideas of the collectors (i don't say it's a bad thing !) lego pay to get licence but they don't , near a lot of things ... indiana jones , white snow , and so on !! i've so many exemple in my computer that this page will be too small !! it's a commercial bizzness and it's normal they answer demand ! i'm sure one day they will do near malone in playmobil ....

I assume the designers do not even know about the forums. As a professional you will avoid to take notice of fan contributions not to get your 'genius' or creative thinking spoiled. And why would they often produce really weird things as e.g. rosa boots :P if they really are monitoring our efforts. ;)

hi henry ! i respect of course your point of vue but i don't think as well , the forum are free marketing for playmobil and i'm sure they study what people demand to make news themes , of course they don't copie exactly the work collectors do but they are inspired by ! don't forget the pf forum and playclick are in the french collector !
in my opinion , this toys are buying by parents who like them , they should stay toys but be a little near reality , if playmobil was too historical (like some collectors who assume to like this toys) , the parents cannot say they buy for their kids and it wouldn't be a good way to make bizzness .. a compromise must be done ...

PS : there's a news helmet of knight who is near malone one .  to later jeremy

hi WoT,
your custom, using only PM parts is almost perfect already;
(I know you still haven't got any katanas, so thats one area you'll have to wait to improve on)
if you have brown or black(like lacquered) wrist guards, swop them
....lastly, the 'logo' on the helmet, is it possible to think of something less bulky (i know you wont cut them, for now  ;) )

GASPODFREUD's suggestion too can be further refined;
they dont carry/use shields, capes only in the rain, their legs are also quite exposed except for those 'home-made' shin protectors...no bare metal should be showing...dont get me wrong, its a nice unadulterated custom GASPODFREUD..I.'m happy to be joined by you both..and more next year  :D

Surprise Cheng!
I have already switched the arm armor on my Samurai...
Just haven't posted any pictures yet! :P

I have actually been thinking of cutting it...
I know what it would look like if I did, But i am not ready to do that quite yet!
I like completely reversible customs, so cutting might be a no no for a while.

(Then again, I did cut my Spartan's helmet... hmm...)
I suppose really the only thing holding me back
Is that I might want to use the helmet for my Knights again. ::)

This is good enough for me... but like you said... "for now." ;)

YOSHI!!!!!! (said with a very low low masculine & throaty voice with almost unopened mouth) very good WoT...
my poorly armed samurais are no match for a small army to these black samurai  :P are they Kiyomasa Katō's men?

Thanks Cheng! ;D
No, they don't belong to any known Samurai general. ;)
I will create a name for my leader soon, but so far he is just "My Samurai Leader." :D

All I know is he will have a green banner
with a Golden Dragon that has twisted itself into a circle.
Thus the color choices. :)

I am sure your Samurai will obliterate my small army,
As only a few of my men will be archers. :P
I know that is not historically accurate...
But hey, they look cool! ;D

hey WoT, we are at wargaming remember? as long as you dont arm yours with laser guns, I might stand a chance before you populate them with your clonable Samurai  ;D I'm like taking forever to spray more samurai legs and getting some more like the pirates with the green shorts and the one with blue shorts...if only these shorts come with those polka-dots too. and did you say bowmen?? since mine cant have shields maybe we have to fight it out in sherwood forest  ;D or else give mine bigger conical hats  ;)

Don't worry Cheng, ;)
Mine wont have Lazer Guns! :D :D :D

But your Samurai are so better looking
Mine will be too distracted by their wonderful shoes to fight back! ;D

I never thought it was possible either...
Until I tried copying Cheng's. :o
It opened a whole new world! And though I wasn't very good at it,
I keep trying to make my customs better and better.

This is by far my best... in my opinion. :)

I think I better make a few female samurais then....what a battle strategy  ;D

and Dan, you'll agree WoT's pure samurai custom is perfect with what's available today...an army of him will look awesome in gaming!

WoT, with your computer skills, could you not clone them 'on a green background' and show us? (dont buy/make too many real ones.....the samurai special cometh soon!)

I don't know if I could do that... ??? ;D ;D ;D
But Ill give it a shot! :o

(I am going to buy quite a few of the specials Cheng...
They will be part of a different household/dynasty,
And My Golden Dragons will fight them! ;D )

(I will also use them as mercenaries too, using a combination
of the two different types of Samurai, Playmobil's and mine. :) )

yes..much better WoT, thanks!

....BUT i'm not a slave driver nor hard-to-please  ;D

only if you have time....what I meant was;
(you know, like how they shoot people with a green background, then superimpose them?)

well, nevermind the japanese scenery/background...maybe just use a plain(homogenous) background and then painfully cut out(trim) each figure and paste them in such a way that they are overlapping(standing very close together such that their weapons/part of bodies block their neighbours)

its a lot of work and editing skill needed...so if you dont enjoy doing it, please dont, we can wait for the arrival of your new recruits  ;)

Use Paint.net (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html).  ;) It is free.

Great figure, I think I will have to make one too. Good use for the armour of the egyptians and those medieval helmets.

A second Samurai to join my first...

This one carries my Generals banner,
It will (eventually) have a Golden Dragon on it.

(I am stuck in between deciding to do a Japanese dragon,
Or using the Black Knights Dragon from Playmobil... ;D
I thought it would be kind of cool using the Playmobil Dragon.)

What do you guys think? :)
