Title: 1900 Peking-US Trooper in winter uniform
Post by: cheng on August 14, 2010, 04:35:42 AM
only 8 foreign nations but the number of troops from gurkhas to even local chinese...and marines and sailors...I dont know how long this is going to take me  :P as it is, my boxers using primitive weapons are already out numbered  :D

I love Osprey books, really good for learning stuff! :)
I just got a Historical France years 1000-1200 and i flipped through it before buying it...
REALLY GREAT! ;D ;D ;D
I was gonna buy 5 or 6 others but I had to choose one... :( To expensive...

Cheng,
Just in case you didn't know,
But the Osprey people have lots of Samurai/Chinese books too.
I flipped through a couple of those as well
While looking through the massive collection of books some guy was selling.

Just a thought... ;)

too bad I'm not customizing anything french in those periods  :P

yes WOT, I prefer Osprey's and others' colored drawings to photos/paintings... (someday I'll have to purchase them via the internet, so that'll be even more expensive for me...and exchange rate grossly not in our favor...and buying without being able to flip through is a gamble)

Lol,
I am not really either... But it is for my SCA persona. :)

Luckily Osprey books are not too much of a gamble as they are really that good.

I was shocked to see a 'naked' torso on normal legs already. At least you seem to work on a solution for this issue.  ;D

ah, Micheal,
its only a temporary transplant until his torso rejects his legs ;D I really still prefer a simple light-skin-coloured version of the naked egyptian or african torsos...looks like it may never happen now that they have taken the trouble to mould a new one which customisers cant misuse like the controversial jesus-on-a cross
altho mine are just working men, digging trenches, loading cannons...   :)

I hope to see some interesting military customs in KW using this new torso  ;)

hey WOT, what's 'SCA' ?  ???

...
hey WOT, what's 'SCA' ?  ???

I was hoping you'd ask! ;D ;)

I am a Member of SCA, the Society for Creative Anacronism.
Here's our homepage:
HOMEPAGE (http://sca.org/)

And a little video that shows what we do...
HEEE, HEEE, HEEE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vljdsfphks)

We do not reenact, we reproduce.
For those who are a little confused by what that means...

We do not reenact battles, but make our own.
We have no clue who is gonna win,
How many people are gonna be there,
And who's gonna die. ;D

I was first introduced to it about 2 or 3 years ago via my cousins.
But I never actually tried getting to into it untill someone introduced me to blacksmithing. ;D
(I am still too young to fight... well not anymore atleast!!! ;D All I need to do is get authorised.)

My, "persona" is a late 12th century French Crusader.
I have a whole detailed version of my life, where I was born, how I became a Knight...
(I was actually born in England... long story.) ;)

Great looking customs, Cheng!  In the future, I hope you have a regular caucasian torso to work with.

I really like the Osprey books too!

The SCA looks fun, WarriorOfToys!

Cheng, I was referring to the new swimmer Special torso you used.  I meant that I hope Playmobil produces a regular naked white klicky torso in the future.  Sorry for the confusion. :)

YES!!! yes, Justindo!! I'll still wait for 'regular' naked caucasian torso (to avoid racial sensitvity, I'll have to 'line and dot' them too :D )anyway I can't afford to buy too many of these swimmers just to throw away their legs  ;)
yes...I have to be really patient :)

These look good, Cheng!  How about the Taiping Rebellion and American Mercenary General Frederick Townsend Ward?
