Why didn´t we think of it before? The rucksack from 4426 ideal for soldiers!

Beautifully done, David! ... (http://www.gardenwargamer.com/images/worshippy.gif)
It looks like you have mastered Customizer's technique for making a Klicky kneel ... ;)
Is the "rucksack/backpack" that you used the same one that Funky used for his World War I French Artilleryman over at the playmo-portal (http://www.playmo-portal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3885)?

Love those "spats," David!
Pleae tell us how you made the regimentsl crests for the shakos. They look really great!
And, are you using the "blanket roll" from the back of the horse saddle for the blanket roll atop your rucksacks?
Very creative ... And, impressive!

Fortunately, 4426 is still available in the "Rallye" Series.

Hello, Richard!
It looks like Funky and I had the same idea at the same time.
No, I haven`t mastered Customizer`s technique, I did burn my finger´s trying :D I cut the legs off and repositioned them using , what else, Milliput.
The badges were painted on paper, something I very rarely do. I took a leaf out of EsDoc`s book.
Your right about the blanket rolls being from behind the saddles in various
sets, of course.
The spats, I like them too. They were painted on.
Most of all ,I`m pleased that there is a cheap and readily available supply of rucksacks.
All the best,
David

hello David!
thanks very much for sharing your ideas(and EsDoc's & customizer's too)
...no burning nor cutting of legs/arms yet...i'll have tons to do...and painting badges and spats(i assume that's their shoe covers :D ) with failing eyesight(so they'll still look acceptable to me) & shaking hands...during retirement :D
did you also use milliput (expoxy?) to hold the blankets to the rugsack? (no close-fitting surface for superglue to work...anyway superglue is too destructive)

Hello Cheng,
Yes, spats are shoe coverings. Most soldiers at this time wore gaiters,
that is knee length spats. Sometimes they wore them over their trousers, sometimes under. It was much easier to paint them under
The blankets were held on with BluTac. These figures aren`t complete. Cheng, I want to make them historically correct :D . Eventually the blankets, I think they were greatcoats really, will be attached to the rucksack by two straps. Then the fronts of the jackets will have to be changed. Then....
I`m looking forward to your retirement Cheng, I hope you hands won`t be shaking too much!

one more question David & OLCESE!
are your klikies' 'shako' torsos (like your red coats and OLCESE's avatar's blue torso) discontinued factory-painted originals or did you two paint them, respectively...? its hard to either handpaint or mask :D

Where are you getting the blanket rolls? I don't see them in any sets.

The blanket rolls are from the saddles of the old horses and come in different colours as well (although last time I ordered them they couldn't send me any in red).
The ETN for the grey rolls is 30055110 (Kavallerie-Decke).

sorry Doc, i have recorded(forgot my source) that the grey blankets are 30 05 2390...could someone confirm either one of these?
-
Hi cheng,
you're right. Your ETN is the correct one. I picked either the number for the red or the yellow blanket-roll. My fault.
