We sold a few of these figures for fun on eBay last year, packaged in the labelled boxes. :)
Unfortunately, we had to give that game up - they didn't travel well because all the extra modelling work is fragile and doesn't always withstand handling by the postal services or customs. Out of 5 auctions, only 3 figures reached their destination completely undamaged, despite careful packing. Still, it was a nice little project to work on.
We'll be adding extra pages to this section each week, so we will post regular updates on this thread rather than make a new one each time. ;)
Please excuse the double posting for those who've seen this already elsewhere.

FANTASTIC FIGURE !!!
MAGNIFICENT PRESENTATION !!!
Wonderful collaboration, Krystal and Warrensde !!!
Most impressive !!!
Of course we all want one (or two ... or more) ... :)
So ... David, perhaps you could make RTV moulds of your originals and cast the parts from Alumilite. Then they wouldn't be fragile. Then you could ship them safely. (That's my advice for the day.) ... ;)
All the best,
Richard
-
unbelieveable nice
better than my own ones  (ok those were the first ones I ever modified  )
-
very inspiring figure !!!

Thanks for the positive feedback. :D

Ooops! ...
I didn't mean for it to sound that way ... :(
Sorry ...
All the best,

Sorry ...
No need to apologise! I was only teasing you. :)
Honestly, I don't think David wants to go into mass production of these figures or any others - but not because it is unprofitable, just because he would find it boring making so many of the same thing over and over.
-
As you would suspect, I have some suggestions, Krystal, but a daren't say anything more ... :P

I've just finished updating the site. :)
Photos of the next soldier, the New York Infantryman, are now available via the link on the following page:
American War of Independence Series (http://www.justforklicks.com/j4k/gallery/warrensde/awi/awi.html)

Those are wonderful customs! I remember seeing them when they sold on ebay. I was tempted to bid, but concerned about how they'd cross the Atlantic. Now being able to see them virtually is the next best thing!
Thanks David and Krystal!

Could the "faded" image above be a preview of an American Marine yet to come? Or, maybe a Light Infantryman?
And, what about the other "faded" images. Is one a British Grenadier? Or, perhaps a Hessian?
Could this possibly be the greatest custom Playmobil series that David (or anyone) has ever created!
But, wait ... EsDoc is currently working on a Uhlan as a follow up to his splendid Kaiser figure ...
Could this be the beginning of an incredible contest between two of the greatest Playmobil customizers of all time?

Thanks everybody, this is one of my favourites.
Btw, why is it that the losers in a war almost always wear the better uniforms???
David

The graphic above shows exactly the same uniform for the 1st Foot Guards in North America during the time of the AWI. But, I'm curious about the hat ...
Regardless, David, it's a beautiful figure! (I can't help it ... I'm just curious) ... ;)
All the best,
Richard

The broard brimmed hat with the feather seems to have been adopted unofficially by the British Army serving in South Carolina under Lord Cornwallis. There are various picture of it being worn, presumably because it gave more shade that the official bicorns and bearskins.
-
I can't find a contemporary picture but here's some wargames figures with the same hat.

Thanks, Dan!
And, it's actually a much more attractive hat than the tricorne ... ;)
Since we are not at all nit-picky here at GW-PC about the uniforms that our Playmobil toy soldiers wear, I probably shouldn't even have asked the question. However, I was a bit curious and I really do appreciate your providing a quick and very informative response, Dan!
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

Thanks for the Pic Dan. I used a plate from an Osprey military uniform book as a guide. Sorry that I can`t scan it. Here`s all I could find on the net. My book showed a black feather.

Red feathers were worn by one regiment (I think the 49th) just so the rebel colonists would know who they were. The regiments's sucessors in the British Army today still wear a red cloth behind their cap badges to commemorate them.
-
Hi Dan,
I think you´ll find it was the 46th, which later combined with the 32nd became the DCLI
Here`s a pic of the later cap badge and in the second paragraph a brief description of the Battle of Paoli and the reason they wore a red feather.

I agree its the 46th!
That'll teach me for being too lazy to go and look it up!

And now, time for something slightly different...

The Regt. von Ditfurth (or, as our history books here in the US just collectively call all of the Hessen-Kassel regiments) ... "a Hessian" ... :)
Can't wait to see the next one (hope you're not going to stop at just six) ... ;)
All the best my friends,
Richard

Very nice Customizing!!! :D

I like the Hessians. (Why didn't I think of using that abbreviation :?)
Can't wait to see the next one (hope you're not going to stop at just six) ... ;)
The last one is definitely my favourite. 8)

These are all wonderful!
While I was on vacation last week I finished reading Jeff Shaara's two-book series on the AWI (Rise to Rebellion and Glorious Cause). Besides showing me just how woefully uninformed I am about the war (I learned so much it surprised me! :D), it sparked an interest in the soldiers who fought in that war.
Can't wait to see (and learn) more!
-
I believe that I would never weary myself to admire your work, Magnifique research task and history. Sincere congratulations.
-
Thanks everybody :D
I have made one more.
Then there are the French who I haven`t attempted and all those Loyalists.
All the best,
david

Here's the last one... for the moment, anyway. ;)

Yes, thank you both very much! I am sorry to see this series come to an end - even if it is only "for now." ;)
