Hello, WoT ...

Very large pictures are great for our members who have really high speed broadband connections.

Visitors with slower connections might never wait long enough to see your wonderful photos.

As you probably already know, WoT, the Cataphract (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cataphract) was one of the first heavy cavalrymen used in warfare.

They were primarily from Scythia and Parthia (Ancient Persia - now Iran).

The horses were usually as heavily armored as the men.

WoT, thanks for your post and showing us your splendid custom of these very interesting ancient warriors!

Hmmm I did not think of that... :-\
Thank you Richard!
I was hoping to armor my Cataphract, but I wanted to use the loop on the saddle I used for holding his mace.
Plus I am waiting for different horse armor to come out...

The sign on that horse armor almost looks like the Byzantine Empire's flag
so it would be perfect for Byzantine Cataphracts.

Thank you for the nice comment Richard.

Nice cataphract, WarriorOfToys!  I think the upcoming knight you showed will work well.

I plan on creating a cataphract using the caparison from this egg set:

Richard, thanks for the Osprey book pictures!  I have these books, but I've yet to read them.

Yes they would make really great looking Cataphracts as well!
I was debating on using them, but favor the blue set.
The only thing I do not like is that they have no sheilds,
something one could easily buy from ds I suppose... ::)
I cannot wait to see your Cataphracts Justindo!

I made some new Cataphracts!
And I improved my older one.
Here they are:

I had to take one apart though...
This is what they look like now:

I hope you like them!

Hi WoT

Your second wave of cataphracts look decent.
Your innovation for the Roman cornucen horn was interesting.

Regarding cataphract armor, keep your eyes on the "dragon knights".
Some of their horse armor, while probably leaning too heavily
toward the 16th century Gothic armor, might be serviceable.

Thank you Timotheos!
I will look at the Dragon Knights... Thanks for the idea! :)

Thanks WOT!

Tim's right in that a few parts from the Dragon Knight Theme could be useful.

Ooooh! :o
Yes, that could work... that could work... ;D

And thanks for the picture Richard!

Here is my cataphract.  If and when I get my PM USA DS order, I'll replace his black bridle and reins with the silver armored crinet from the new Dragon Knight sets.

Here is one of him dismounted.

Here are a couple more photos of him.  First, he is with a less, but still heavily, armored infantryman.  Second, he is with his king and queen, along with their standard bearer and signaler.

Very nice Cataphract Justindo! :o
Very cool.
I agree, our Cataphracts (however good looking they are now)
will look even better with the other hoarse armor!

Thanks WarriorOfToys!  Your four cataphracts along with my single entry would make a fearsome fivesome!  Enemies beware!  Now we need some horse archers to support them and we can re-enact Carrhae.

I am hoping to make more!
Yes, our five cataphracts would rule ther world! ;D
Untill they had to face some pikemen! :o
I have some hoarse archers aswell, but I think they are in one of my cataphract photos...
Not very creative anyway. Just two archers on hoarses! :D
