My Potzauboys are now officially members of the German Schutztruppe in Deutsch Ostafrika, around 1900. They will be displayed at the Wolfsburg Convention 2009 within a big Diorama of the british and german parts of East Africa...
I know, they did not have Camels there ::) ::)

I like the way you photo'd them in black & white looks really authentic.
Where do the camel saddles come from?

The white Marine troops are sold at the DS as cooks form the Wedding Guests Set

@ Cheng: well, it is not easy to cut Playmobil in half, but theyforce us to do, don´t they? ::)
@HM: What about your Darkest Africa project? I presume, you´ll need some of these witchdoctor masks

I love all these late Victorian era Playmobil toy soldiers !!! ... ;D
Olki ...
After reading Cheng's comment, I just had to compare your sailor to Garden Wargaming's sailor.
Did you really cut the brim off of a peaked cap, or did you use the kid's sailor hat from Playmobil's Vctorian theme?
see attachments
-
I did cut off the brim of the peaked cap, the children´s caps are so hard to get ::)
-
More soon.
Hopefully you do not mind that I put them here.
Not at all, not at all! Keep ´em coming!!! ;)
I like them very much!!
-
I did cut off the brim of the peaked cap, the children´s caps are so hard to get ::)
but no worries Olki..those children's caps are also a wee bit too small for the oversized 'Playmo' effect....(still, I did make 2 such sailor caps from children's caps after Richard told me this)
-

Hello, Dan ...
David Helber (AKA The Major General ... and, not to be confused with GW's David Hamer), provided many suggestions, lots of ideas and and an incredible amount of moral support when we were first creating the Garden Wargaming website more than eleven years ago.
Thanks for posting the link to the Major General's site, Dan!
I would urge those of you who have never seen the Major General's site, to go visit. I know that you will enjoy it!
Thanks again, Dan.
And, all the best,
Richard

Beautiful customs of colonial troops, the new colonial helmet is fabulous.

Actually I got most of my ideas for this display looking at this (and similar wargaming) site(s)!

Long time no post here! that´s to be changed....
I finally found the perfect body for my Schutzruppe Soldiers..
It´s from the male Klicky in the 4843 Treasure Hunter Set and it looks nearly like the original Cord Litewka worn by the German Südwest Schutztruppe Soldiers...
(I know they did not have black collars and epaulettes, but since they are designed for a fictional German Colony, I spit on historical correctness ;D)
-
Hello, Olki ... (http://www.gardenwargamer.com/images/wave.gif)
I love your German Südwest Schutztruppe Soldier ... (http://www.gardenwargamer.com/images/worshippy.gif)
I also loved Steve McQueen in the movie Sand Pebbles (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1621267200/tt0060934) ... ;)
And, I agree with you about "spitting on historical correctness" ... ;D
All the best,
Richard

Hi,
I've just discovered this beautiful diorama....
IT'S GREATEST¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
I'm doing a serie of the WWI with Schutztrupper, Askaris, Uhlans.....
And I'll be interested in the bigger salacots and the vickers machine gun.
Could you tell me how could I get any of them??
-
WOW! And WOW! is all I can say! :o :o :o
This is a magnificent display! So incredible! 8)
I am forever impressed by it! ;D
-
Great figures but can't agree about historical corectness. Working out how to get the details right is half the fun!
-

That’s pretty clever, actually.
¿Can we see them in color?

For me it is fun to find out the details and what can be done with the pm at hand to get as close as possible. And then to imagine what remains uncovered and what could be. :)
