I have always enjoyed making PM headwears....and always said that its the headgear that makes whoever we want to create so much more 'accurate' in the PM-sense
BTW...these are Mongol archers not Manchus(so no long pigtails)...hope this will usher in a real launch of Asian theme from GB in 2008 :D

these caps(no name for them as far as i know...do you, Richard?)

Playmobil has made at least two sets using the Manchu Winter hat known as the Dingdai. (Please see attached pictures)
The Playmobil part number (according to Heather Patey's wonderful database (http://www.playmodb.org)) is 30 06 351 ...
Excellent paint job, Michael!

Michael and Cheng ... What are all these rumours about an Asian Theme in 2008?
All the best,
Richard
BTW ... I included a picture of a Manchu Guard wearing a DingDai and also a picure of their Qing Dynasty banner.

Excellent paint job, CHENG!
Sorry, I just helped him to find the raw pieces.

There are since some time constant rumors that geobra will launch an asian theme in 2008. Many people seem to have heard of it but no one knows. As with every good rumor its origin is not known and so it should contain at least a grain of truth. :-D
Apart from this geobra announced to expand to the far east/chinese market next year, so they should have at least a special.
BTW ... I included a picture of a Manchu Guard wearing a DingDai and also a picure of their Qing Dynasty banner.
@ cheng: How you closely you met the Manchu Guard in richard's picture. Just add a black tail and maybe simple black torsos.

Hello, Michael ...
Thank you for correcting my misunderstanding about Cheng's dingdai hats.
EXCELLENT PAINTING ON YOUR DINGDAIs, Cheng!
Also, thanks, Michael, for the information about the Asian Theme rumour.
All the best,
Richard

Very good cheng, i like th theme and your figures :)
-
thanks everyone!
its your interest in such things that encourage us on ;)
and special thanks to Richard...our Playmopedia :D
exellent references again and yes, Dingdai....wonder what is the chinese translation...usually means something...not just a name ('dai' could mean 'wear' but depending on actual word because many different meanings & words but similar sounds...tough language to learn...i am trying to but in a lazy slow way)
thanks Michaal...i think i cant asnwer the 2008 asian theme question more 'politically-correctly' than you just did...you are the smooth one :)
as for the 'tail' for the officials...the tail is actually a peacock feather while the others are a kind of black brush...
as for the 'button' on the dingdai...the official's hat uses a kind of pearl (i'm sure not real pearls..not that large or their heads will be the first to be cut off ;D )

They're nice Cheng but you'll need a whole lot more to make a horde!

I like them cheng! especially the details on the horses! really nice work! ;D
